Assessment of City Programs, Policies, Services, and Facilities to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1913 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. (302-21) REPORT: SECTION 504 SELF EVALUATION COMMITTEE, REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS FEBRUARY, 1993 INFORMATIONAL REPORT, FEBRUARY 19, 1993 Section 504 Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas provided background regarding the Rehabilitation Act of 1913 which was amended in 1988 to include Section 504, requiring public agencies with more than 15 employees who receive federal funds, to conduct a self assessment and adopt a Transition Plan outlining physical barriers to be removed. Mrs. Jones-Thomas described the Americans with Disabilities Act, Redwood City's activities in support of this civil rights legislation, and the mandatory Transition Plan the 504 Committee was presenting this evening.
