over 20,000 subscribers. The City’s weekly enews, which includes a round-up of <br />community updates and events, has seen an average open rate of 27% and the new <br />Downtown enews has seen an average open rate of 32%. The City is now on Next Door <br />with over 12,000 subscribers and has an Instagram account with 538 followers. Other <br />social media channels include LinkedIn and mysidewalk. <br /> <br />In January, the City began a focused effort to invite community members to participate <br />in major topics being discussed by the City Council. This new campaign called ‘Join the <br />Conversation’ has its own webpage which is updated regularly with new information. <br />The goal of this effort is to provide greater advance notice of upcoming topics with the <br />set objective of encouraging input and community participation. Since January, this <br />campaign has reached over 12,000 people via Facebook with over 850 engagements <br />including comments and shares, gained over 600 engagements on Twitter, received <br />500 views of the City’s YouTube ‘Join the Conversation’ videos and received over 5700 <br />unique views of the City’s blog post on this topic. <br /> <br />The City also launched a new blog series called ‘Tell a Friend Thursdays’ to answer <br />questions from the public about City programs, projects and initiatives. The City’s <br />medium.com blog site called Redwood City Voice was created to share City service <br />information and stories on a regular basis. The blog views and reads have grown each <br />month. In fact, in comparison from April to May, the blog saw a growth of three times the <br />views and reads than prior months. In the month of June, the blog received 2,726 <br />views, 1,766 reads and 2 recommends. <br /> <br />Other communications, marketing and branding efforts included: <br />· Re-established the City’s mailed newsletter <br /> <br />· Reinforced the City’s Brand <br />o Refreshed the City’s logo <br />o Created a style guide and branding colors <br />o Centralized graphic design <br />o Established general messaging about the city <br />o Began to expand the City’s photo library <br />o Centralized the City’s website management <br /> <br />· Created a brand identity for Downtown through the development of a new <br />Downtown guide, retail and business guides, new microsite, and monthly digital <br />newsletter <br /> <br />· Furthered the City’s media relations efforts <br /> <br />7.A. - Page 6
