Citywide Community Engagement Activities for FY 2015-2016 <br />The City Manager’s Office provided leadership for community engagement activities <br />including administering a community involvement grant program, supporting the Pride <br />and Beautification committee, partnering with and investing in Redwood City 2020, <br />supporting Community Schools (through Redwood City 2020), and assisting <br />neighborhood associations. Other efforts include maintaining relationships with school <br />districts, Canada College, and Stanford University. <br />The City also works with PCRC to provide community building workshops, mediation <br />services, leadership training and community meeting facilitation. PCRC facilitated five <br />sessions and engaged 370 participants on different city topics including the Farm Hill <br />Boulevard pilot program, Inner Harbor Strategic Plan, Docktown and more; consulted <br />with various Departments on outreach and community engagement strategies; <br />supported staff community engagement trainings and workshops; developed the <br />Neighborhood Liaison program curriculum and hosted a few Neighborhood Liaison <br />program workshops before there was a pause in the program; and furthered the City’s <br />mediation programs, helping build neighborhood relationships with over fourteen cases <br />opened so far this year and nine closed cases. <br /> <br />Department Specific Community Engagement Activities for FY 2015-2016 <br />Many City departments lead community engagement opportunities and community <br />building programs. The list below illustrates some of our current community <br />engagement activities. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list but to highlight the <br />broad range of programs offered citywide. <br /> <br />City Clerk’s Office <br />The City Clerk’s Office supports City Council meetings and Town Hall meetings; <br />Boards, Commissions and Committee volunteer engagement; and, for the first time this <br />year, completes City Council voting summaries following every City Council meeting to <br />further engage the community around the City’s decision-making process. <br />Other specific activities include: <br />· Two BCC Open Houses in 2015 and one BCC Open House in 2016, involving 27 <br />total attendees <br />· In 2015, administered three BCC recruitments for seats that were vacant or <br />expired <br />7.A. - Page 7
