4 <br /> <br />Proposed Citywide Community Engagement Strategies <br />1. Strategy: Re-engage Neighborhood Associations (and add new <br />associations) <br />a. Re-engage: <br />i. Mayor and Vice Mayor meet once a year with neighborhood <br />association presidents (and other officers) to gain suggestions on <br />ways to be helpful to neighborhood associations <br />ii. Provide Neighborhood Association meeting location support. Explore <br />utilizing fire stations (already utilize library, community center). <br />Promote the Community Improvement Grant Program. <br />iii. Consider asking a designated City Councilmember to attend a <br />neighborhood meeting each month (annually) <br /> <br />b. Expand existing officers/leadership within neighborhood associations for <br />longevity <br />i. Leverage current community engagement programs and match up <br />volunteers with each neighborhood association. i.e.: match PD <br />VIPs and CERT Volunteers with neighborhood associations <br /> <br />c. Work with Communications Sub-Committee to discuss neighborhood <br />association boundary alignment with Next Door <br /> <br />d. Support creation of new neighborhood associations <br /> <br />2. Strategy: Offer more face-to-face meeting opportunities <br />a. Leverage existing neighborhood engagement programs to strengthen the <br />City’s community engagement focus <br />i. Revamp Neighborhood Watch <br />ii. Elevate National Night Out neighborhood organized events (August <br />2, 2016) <br />iii. Relaunch the Neighborhood Liaison Program in Spring 2017 <br /> <br />b. Host an annual Faith Community Stakeholder Meeting (January 2016) <br /> <br />c. Promote and Further Develop City’s Youth Engagement Opportunities <br />i. Utilize and support the Youth Commission <br />ii. Explore leveraging existing school events <br />iii. Partner with Redwood City 2020 through their dialogue series and <br />parent engagement programs. <br />7.A. - Page 21
