The Coty of Rechvood City is being asked to pay the cost of maintenance and operation of 12 electroliers <br />out of a total of 69 electroliers and luminaires at these two overpass structures. Those porposed to be <br />maintained and operated at the expense of the City and County are on the approach structures from <br />Broadway, Harbor Boulevard, and Whipple Avenue, as distinguished from portion of the actual overpass <br />structure. <br />It is the recommendation of the City Manager and the City Engineer that the City Council authorize the 04" <br />sharing of the expense for maintenance and operation on this proposed absis. Councilman Stout moved r..■ <br />approval of the recommendation, the City to stand their share of the expense submitted after checking <br />with other Cities, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PLANNING C0JJUJISSION RECO1181ENDED SETTING OFFICIAL PLAN LINES FOR THE WIDENING AND EXTENSION OF BEECH STREET <br />0 <br />FROM HILTON TO STAMBAUGH STREET. Councilman Britschgi moved to set the public hearing for two weeks, <br />May 7th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />AUTHORIZE CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT DEED FROM PETRANCOSTA. Councilman Spillers moved that the City Clark be <br />authorized to accept the deed, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />CAOUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RESOLUTION REQUESTING TRAFFIC SIGNALS FIFTH AVENUE AND BAYSHORE HIGHWAY. The <br />County Board of supervisiors sent the Council a copy of their Resolution No. 10.06 requesting Division of <br />Highways of Department of Public Works of State of California to establish traffic signals, Fifth Avenue <br />and Bayshore Highway, Redwood City, California. There was a short discussion after whi.ch.Councilman <br />Granger offered RESOLUTION 2025 COMMENDING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORfi FOR THEIR ACTION and moved its <br />asoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call. <br />COUNCILMAN STOUT REPORT ON BRANCH LIBRARY. Councilman Stoat read the following letter from Mrs. Merman, <br />Librarian. <br />"The Board of Library Trustees sustained a motion that the City Manager employ an Pp" <br />architect for the branch Library to be situated on the Roosevelt property and it <br />be awarded to the lowest bidder, providing the provisions of the contract of "e <br />employment are the same for all bidders.' <br />The Board's understanding is that Erskine and Green submitted the lowest bid and, <br />therefore, should be appointed, all things being equal.'? <br />Councilman Stout moved that the City Manager be instructed to hire an architect as asked is the letter <br />from the Library Board, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />Y. M. C. A. REGA-Z.DING PROPOSED SALE OF PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THEIR BUILDING. ADVE?TISE FOR BIDS. The Clerk <br />read the letter from the Sequoia Y.M.C.A. wher-in they stated that they are willing to make an offer <br />for the property adjacent to the Y.M.C.A. on Hudson Street, should this property be put up for bid. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to advertise for bids, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. City Attorney <br />Currie stated that there will be a substantional cash refund and that some provision should be made as to <br />who would receive the cash refund. 'aayor Royer ruled that the money would be returned to the City. The <br />motion carried. Councilman Weiss asked if there were any lists of City owned property and the reason .� <br />that it is being held. The Clerk was instructed to obtain this information bzT instructing the proper <br />department of the Council's wishes. <br />P. G. & E. REGARDING REMOVAL OF 770 POLES ON EL CAMINO REAL SOUTH OF BREKSTER AVENUE. They are endeavoring <br />to secure right-of-way for the alternate line at rear of properties on the west side of El Camino Real. <br />There is one right-of-way which has been refused,,and they are still.working on the project and hope <br />to reach a settlement in the very near future. Councilman Spillers moved to -carry this on the agenda for <br />I <br />30 days, seconded by Councilman Britshcgi and carried. The Clerk was asked to notify the P. G. & E. <br />of the extension of time. <br />COUNTY OF SAN 1,ATEO CENTENNIAL CO11MITTEE REGARDING CITY PARTT_CIPATIO11. The Clerk read the letter from the <br />County. Councilman Stout suggested that the Mayor appoint a committee to look into the participation. <br />
