Councilman Granger was of the opinion that this should be taken up with the Chamber of Commerce and see if <br />they will accept the entire membership. Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that the County was going <br />to coordinate this with the Celebration Association. It was reported that the Fourth of July would be one <br />of the highlights of the centennial celebration. Councilman Britschgi moved to refer this to the Chamber <br />of Commerce and ask for a report by next Monday night, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Mayor Royer appointed a committee to work with the Chamber of Commerce. Councilman Granger and Councilman <br />Britschgi were appointed to act as coordinators with the Chamber of Commerce and with the Board of Supervis— <br />ors <br />BURLINGAME ADVANCE STAR REGARDING FIESTA ADDITION. The Clerk mad the letter wherein it was stated that the rate <br />for a full page, tabloid size, is $299. The printing surface for the page measures 10 inches in width by <br />15 inches in length. The deadline for receipt of advertising copy is June 4. Councilman Spillers moved to <br />refer this to the Port for their thinking on this before any further action is taken, and he requested a <br />report on the Port's thinking. Councilman Spillers moved to deny the <br />claim and referred the matter to the City Attorney, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />DANA MORGAN RWARDING RECENT RESOLUTION IN MEW RIUM OF SERGEANT ANDREW MORGAN. Mayor Royer asked that the letter <br />be made a hart of the record. <br />A note of Gratitude to you and the employees of the City of Redwood City from my <br />family and myself for your resolution of March 26, 1956 in which ,you adjourned in <br />honor of the death of my brother Master Sergeant Andrew James Morgan, United Sates <br />Army. <br />It was a wonderful gesture towards a man who had put all his adult life in the <br />Army and who had been thur the worst of it with only four more yars to go before <br />retirement. <br />Andy was not too well known in Redwood City in as much as he joined the Army when <br />he was seventeen, upon graduation -from Sequoia High School, and spent most of his time <br />overseas, the last of which was a tour of five years in Germany, he returned home <br />last Christmas, the next time I saw him was -the day before he was killed, he had been <br />home on ten day leave and was returning to his new base in Arizona where he had just <br />taken over the dutys of first sergeant of a unit there. <br />Andy never took a drink or smoked in his life, he always told me, quote "a man <br />in my position must be in top shape at all times as we do not know what is coming <br />next". <br />The old timers in the Police Departmentmill probably recall him best as when I <br />was on the force he always visited in the Station when home. <br />Andy was made for the Army and the Army was made for Andy. <br />Thanking you again: I am Truly yours: <br />Dana R. City Engineer Jain stated that <br />X1,350 in the budget will cover only the cost for a ppl;*ing a seal coat and he does not know where the <br />estimate come from. This was followed by discussion.
