Mr. Collins was present to state the case as representative of sign company. Iffilliam S. Rice, <br />3591 Hoover Street, was objecting to the illumination from the signs. Mr. Collins stated that this could <br />be corrected by use of metal cups on the lights which would keep the lights from reflecting away from the <br />building. This was followed by a very len[-thy discussion -about signs and billboards. Councilman Weiss <br />moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that the use permit be upheld in denying the sign, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />This was followed by discussion after which the motion lost on roll call vote with Councilmen Herkner and <br />Stout and Mayor Royer voting No and Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the sign be approved subject to (1) the legs and posts being removed and the <br />sign attached to the building and (2) the matter of illumination of the lights be checked, seconded by <br />!■"" Councilman Herkner. City Attorney Currie stated that the condition should be made that this sign will be <br />... used only by Granny Goose produ-ts. This was included in the motion. There was discussion as to where this <br />sign should be located, flush with the building, on top of the build ng or flush with the top of the building. <br />The motion carried with Councilmen Britschgi and "leiss voting No. <br />PUBLIC H`ARIAIG, ADOPT ORDINANCE APPROVING ANNEXATION "OLD COUNTY ROAD SCHOOL SITE". Councilman Britschgi offered <br />ORDINANCE 821 APPROVING ANNEXATION OF HIGHLANDS TERRITORY NO.. 6 and moved its adoption, seconded by <br />Councilman Herkner and carried on roll call, Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />1..r. <br />Miss Dorothy Roberts and two of the "Stars of Tomorrow" presented two trophies which they had won, one in the <br />1955, Marina Festival Thanksgiving parade and the other from the 1956 St. Patricks Day parade held in San <br />Francisco. Councilman Herkner accepted the trophies for the Park and Recreation Commission and extended his <br />• thanks to Miss Roberts for the great showing and advertising she had done on behalf of Redwood City. These <br />b"" trophies number 35 and 36 respective. The Stars of Tomorrow will next enter the parade to be held in Kezar <br />Stadium,on May 26th and they will try for their second gold meda. <br />REQUEST FOR "TATER CONNECTION EMERALD LAKE, MRS. STEPHEN FRITSCH. Mrs. Fritsch requested a water meter for <br />property owned by Mr. Russell Hunt and located on Jefferson Avenue. They proposed to purchase the property <br />but have found that there is no water available and rectuested that a favorable decision by the Council <br />would allow such a meter so that they could complete the sale as proposed.
