Although the 1(ZV bid of Oscar
Holmes is approximately 22% over the consulting engineer's estimate, it is the recommendation of the City
Engineer that the contract be awarded to Oscar Holmes as per his bid, after a consultation with the con-
tractor, Attorney and City Manager.
Councilman Stout offered RESOLUTION 2033 AWARDING THE.CONTRACT TO OSCAR HO11 ES and moved its adoption,
seconded by Councilman Herkner. JONES REGARDING ANTICIPATED DATE OF CO11PLETION, PARKING LOT NO. VII The Clerk read the
following letter:
Dear Sir:
tde are in receipt of your letter dated April 26, 1956, requesting statement as to
anticipated date of completion for subject job.
This office is well aware of the liquidated damage clause of our contract and every
effort will be made to bring the job to a rapid conclusion. Hoa,-rever, as stated in my letter
to the Engineering Department on December 21,.1955, this office feels the manner in which
-.-:corking days were charged on this particular job was objectionable and hardly consistent
rith the intent of the specifications or with other State and City jobs running simultane-
ously. This, coupled with other factors for which this Company was not responsible, resulted
in a seemingly prolonged operation. Nevertheless, it is our sincere intent to work as
expeditiously as possible and give your city a structurally sound parking lot by May 25,
1956.
Very truly yours,
0. C. Council-
man Granger was of the opinion that a copy of this letter should be sent to the bonding.Company. The
motion carried.
City Engineer Jain stated that the specifications state th,t a superintendent-rrill be on the ,job at all
times to.consult with our engineers, and to date this has not been the case.
