City Engineer Jain stated <br />that the description could not be made until the proper studies have been completed. In approximately <br />,W 10 weeks a contract will be let for the resurfacing of the existing State Highway on El Camino Real, from <br />Broadway to the north city limits. Due to the heavy movement of traffic on El Camino during the peak hour <br />periods, it is planned to restrict the Contractor's working hours to the period between 9 A. M. and 4 P. T1;. <br />each working day. It is requested that other interested members of the City Administration be -advised of <br />the intent of the State to proceed with this work. as outlined. Councilman Stout moved that the letter <br />be filed, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. The Clerk read the letter. <br />Councilman Stout moved approval of the City Manager's recommendations seconded by Councilman Weiss and <br />carried. <br />RESOLUTION T-11INSFERRING $1,451 FROTA UNALLOCATED CAPITAL PROJECT FUND TO COVEP COST OF F^;T•TCING 491er BUILDING. <br />Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 2035 TRANSFERRING $1,151 FROM UNALLOCAT-D CAPITAL PROJECT FUND <br />and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger. City Attorney Currie asked that they cange the <br />wording of 491er building to read Recreation Area. The change was ordered made and the motion carried on <br />roll call. <br />CALIFORNIA I:ZSSION TRAILS RLQEST FOR ANNUAL APPROPRIATION OF X150. Councilman <br />Spillers moved that the claim be denied and referred to the insurance carrier, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and carried. <br />COUNT! FIESTA CCX,UTJNICATION R1:,GARDI14G RED:7 iOD CITY DAY, AUGUST 7th, The Clerk read the letter. Councilman <br />Britschgi made a report on the meeting he attended at the request of the 11ayor. This was followed by <br />discussion in regard to programing the centennial and Fiesta Day for Redwood City. Councilman Britschgi <br />suggested that the I,Zayor appoint a Citizens Committee to work on the program. He suggested the names of <br />Mrs. Cloud and possibly the Heiners. Councilman Stout moved that the T:layor appoint a Citizens,Committee <br />of not less than 7 members, seconded by Councilman Britschgi who asked that they also include the first <br />geek of July as Centennial?:geek. The motion carried. <br />Councilman Granger suggested that we borrow the old pumper that we loaned to Fort Sutter. This will be <br />PON taken into consideration. <br />U" ABF] JOACOLS COMETNICATION REGARDING CONDITION OF SIDEATALK FR DINTTNG 2626-2630 BROAD"TAY. Mr. Joacobs acknowledged <br />receipt of notice to repair the sidewalk and. curb in front of 2626, 2628 and 2630 Broadway, but he does not <br />accept the responsibility for the repair work mentioned. His letter went into detail c7gQlaining ,:hy he <br />PMMM would not accept the responsil-)ility. This was his official notice to the City of his non -responsibility <br />in this matter. The City Engineer reported that they had in--estig,ated into this matter very thoroughly <br />v <br />and found that the original sidewalk was put in 1916 by the City and since that time the property owners <br />have put in any and all additiogal sidewalks. The street lights were improved in 1930 but the City used the <br />{ <br />original conduits and did not tear up the sidewalk. This was followed by discussion in regard to the City's <br />response.;ility in this matter. The City Attorney stated that the next step is to let the City Engineer <br />proceed under the ordinance or consider this letter as an appeal and have the man appear before the Council. <br />
