1-62 <br />public. 'There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing <br />be closed, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. Councilman Stout offered ORDINANCE 82.3 AMENDING <br />ORDINANCE 639, AS AMENDED, BEING THE SIDEWALK AND DRIVEWAY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOCD CITY <br />RELATIVE TO GRADES AND DRIVEWAYS and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried <br />on roll call, Councilman Britschgi being noted absent. <br />Councilman Weiss's request regarding the minutes of May 7th and 14th in reference to the concession stand M4 <br />at Hawes Park. Councilman Weiss moved that they advertise for bids for the concession stand at Hawes ..i <br />Park, seconded by Councilman Herknere The City Manager stated that he would have to have some kind <br />of a plan before he could call for bids. Mayor Royer stated that the building was already up. The <br />motion carried. <br />REPORT, PROPOSED EXTENSION FRANKLIN STREET, COUNCILMAN GRANGER. Councilman Granger stated that they were <br />FWq <br />supposed to have had a meeting and asked that this be carried on theagneda for another week. <br />Councilman Britschgi entered the meeting at 9:35 P M. <br />CITY ENGINEER REPORT REGARDING STATUS OF HIGHLANDS TERRITORY NO. 2 SEWER JOB. City Engineer Jain stated <br />that the job has been competed and they are just waiting for the assessment to be spread. The City <br />Attorney recommended that this be dropped form the agenda, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />REPORT REGARDING REMOVAL OF P. G. & E.'S TWO POLES ON EL CANINO REAL SOUTH OF BRESTER AVENUE. The Clerk's <br />office had contacted the Pe G. & E. and were told that the poles had not been removed. Mrs, Reynard was <br />on vaction but his office reported that they have this matter almost settled. The Mayor asked the City <br />Engineer to check into this matter and if the poles were not removed in the next two weeks to bring the <br />matter up to the Councils, <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT ON MICHEL BUILDING ON MAIN STREET. The City Attorney reported that these people have <br />asked to sign an agreement with the City. Councilman Herkner moved that the City Attorney draw a" <br />up the necessary agreement to have the building torn down by October lsty the owner to furnish the "'w <br />necessary bond, seconded by Councilman Spillers. This was followed by discussion after which the motion <br />carried, City Attorney to report back in two weeks. <br />STULSAFT COMMITTEE REPORT, VINCENT RAMBO, Chairman. Mr. Rambo explained how their committee started and what <br />they did and the places they went in an attempt to familiarize themselves with the situation in regard <br />to a storyland and what would be required to carry out this idea. He submitted the following report <br />for the records: <br />Messerse Hastings and Fowler presented the topographical map of Stulsaft Park prpared <br />by Murphy and Hastings. They explained its preparation, discussed the usable areas for <br />recreational purposes and for auto parking, and pointed out development propblems that will <br />arise: <br />After discussion the committee decided that, even though a majority was not -in attendence, <br />the facts presented and the need for a decision from the committee dictated the desirability of <br />formulating a recommendation to the City Council based on the opinions of the members present. <br />Thus, the following conclusion was reached: <br />In the opinion of the attending members Stulsaft Park is neither a suitable nor feaseble <br />location for the construction of a children storyland project and the recommendation is made <br />that the City Council abandon plans for such a devlopment for the following reasons: <br />1. The usable areas for a storyland are not sufficiently concentrated. It would be <br />necessary to spread such a project out along the creek area. Although not undesirable from a <br />recreational standpoint such a design would increase site preparation expense, theproject con— <br />struction <br />onstruction costs and the operational costs to what could will be considered unrealistic levels. <br />e� <br />2. Auto parking would necessarily be scattered into a number of widely separated areas. <br />Ingress and egress to the storyland area would be inconvenient from the standpoint of both <br />distance and height. <br />3s, ln,the opin;tcn of the engineers, parking could not be provided for more than 500 <br />Autos. At least four acres of the choicest park area would be required for this purpose. It <br />does not appear that this would provide sufficient parking facilities for servicing a storyland <br />I <br />project. <br />4* The engineers also estimate that parking facilities for 500 autos would cost between <br />
