Councilman Stout had stated that the only reason he was going along with this project and including Glenwood Avenue was in order to get the information before the public. City Engineer Jain stated that he had figures available on the proposed changes. He stated that by setting Fm* the bids and having the Glenwood and Canyon Road section set up as separate items, they could possibly get 60 the work done in Glenwood and Canyon Road for an estimated figure of $233.00 per lot and about $403.00 per lot would be the cost to the rest of the area. The City Attorney.stated that there will be two public hearings; one on June lith and the other approximately July 2nd, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUEST CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON THE SECOND INSTALLIMT OF 1955-56 TAXES.ON PROPERTY PUR- CHASED FROM NATIONAL MOTOR .BEARING CO., INC. Councilman Herkner moved approval of the request, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. JACK GREENBACK APPLICATION FOR DANCE PERMIT, JUNE 1st, AT THE AMERICAN LEGION HALL. There was a discussion as to why these dance permits must come before the Council. The Attorney read the ordinance which stated that all persons other than Churches, Lodges and Civic Organizations, etc. were required to obtain Council per- mission. The Police Department recommended the hours of 8:00 P. M. to 12:00 midnight. Councilman Spillers moved that the permit be granted, the dance to be held during the hours recommended by the Police Department, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. SPECIAL LUNCHEON NOTICE: WORLD TRADE WEEK LUNCHLION, HONORING THE PORT OF REDW)OD CITY AT THE PORT, MAY 23rd. All the Council would attend with the exception of Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 2039 TRANSFERRING $195.70 FROM UNBUDGETED i.. RESERVE TO PAY FOR THE PLACQUE and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll calla COMMUNICATION, COUNTY ,OF SAN MATEO REQUEST REGARDING FORMATION OF A SOUTH COUNTY GARBAGE AND REFUSE DISPOSAL DISTRICT. The County Manager stated in his letter that preliminary legal steps necessary to the formation of a South County Garbage and Refuse Disposal District have been taken, and the hearing on the resolution for formation of the district is scheduled for 2:00 P. M. on Tuesday, May 22nd. He asked to have official reaction to the formation of this ,district in accordance with the plans previously discussed with the Council representatives. This was followed by discussion in which City Attorney Currie suggested that the Council have someone attend the meeting. Councilman Granger moved that the City reafirm their stand of having no objections and the City Clerk attend the. meeting. This was followed by discussion after which Councilman Granger restated his motion that the .City was in favor of the formation of the district, the Clerk to attend POW" the meeting and tell them of the City's thinking in the matter. This was followed by more discussion. bb" Councilman Herkner seconded the motion. Councilman Granger included in his motion to have the City Manager also attend the meeting. Councilman Granger.substituted the City Attorney to attend the meeting with the City Manager rather than the Clerk. The motion carried. Councilman Britschgi stated that there was a big fire at the Belmont dumps and the City of Redwood City also had PMM a big fire going. He was of the opinion that something should be done about all the burning. City Manager ba" Rolison reported that come October lst there will be legislation gislation bopping the burning. This was followed by discussion after which Councilman Britschgi moved that they stop burning at the dumps effective immediately, seconded by Councilman Stout. This was followed by discussion in regard to what was going to be done with the rubbish. The motion lost -on roll call with Councilmen Britschgi and Stout voting Yes and Councilmen Granger, Herkner, Spillers, Weiss and Mayor Royer voting NO.
