Mr. Wolf from the Real Estate Department of the Southern Pacific Company spoke on the <br />subject of zoning of the small triangle piece which would restrict the value of the piece and they proposed <br />to grant the easement with the understanding that the City will abandon their plans to rezone the triangle <br />piece bounded by James, Winklebleck and California streets. They asked that the City waive the off-street <br />parking for the loss of the area. The cutting off of the piece that the City would require for Franklin <br />Street would reduce the use of the area considerably and it would be impossible to give up the area for <br />Franklin Street and at the same time get full development of the property. This was followed by discussion. <br />Councilman Stout stated that there seemed to be a good deal of information that the Council should check <br />into and he was of the opinion that a delay of two weeks was in order. Councilman Stout withdrew his <br />motion with the consent of the second. <br />Councilman Stout moved that this matter be carried on the agenda for two weeks, a copy of'the report from <br />the Southern Pacific Company to be mailed to each member of the Council, seconded by Councilman Granger and <br />carried. <br />CITY MANAGER REPORT REGARDING POSSIBILITY OF RAISING THE BUILDING PERMIT FEES. The City Manager reported that a <br />study had been made of the building permit fees applicable in other Bay Area cities, as compared with <br />Redwood City. The present permit schedule as applied in Redwood City at the present time, as compared with <br />a.proposed permit schedule, has been designed to increase residential permits by the sum of approximately <br />$25.00 each. It will be noted that, if applied to larger construction units such as apartments and commer- <br />cial structures, the proposed building permit fees would be increased in similar proportion. Attention was <br />called to the fact that this was submitted for study only, however, it is believed to be in keeping with <br />previous.suggestions. <br />Councilman Herkner moved to carry this on the agenda for two weeks, this would be taken up at a study meeting <br />a week from Wednesday, June 6th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />REPORT OF BID OPENING, SOFTBALL FIELD LIGHTING FOR FIELD NO..4 ON ROOSEVELT AVENUE.
