. 7 2,
theyp the Planning Commission, had asked the Attorney's office to issue a criminal complaint. Mr.
Depaoli asked that he also receive a copy of the report. Motion carried. This was followed by discussion
in regard to when, why and how criminal complaints are issued.
APPOINTMENT TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION. Councilman Herkner nominated Vincent Rambo, seconded by Councilman
Weiss and carried. The Clerk was directed to notify Mr. Rambo of his appointment so he might attend the
next Council meeting and be weorn in. ••
APPLICATION FOR WATER CONNECTION FOR A PORTION OF LOT 24,t SAN MATEO LAND ASSOCIATION (ON EDGEWOCD ROAD ACROSS Now
THE STREET AND SLIGHTLY WEST OF THE MORMAN CHURCH). Water Superintendent Winter stated that these people,
Mr. Richard Murray, 1520 Edgewood Road, tried to get water from the San Francisco Water Company but
they would have to run in approximately 1100 or 1200 feet of water main to serve the property in question.
MR
The California Water Company could not give them service. The Palomar Water District would give them
Mai
water but they had a long distance to come and it would be very expensive. Mr. Winter recommendd&
approval of the request if they would pay,for the cost of the line. The City would set the meter and the
people would run their own line from the meters in. This service would not relieve them from any
further responsibility of paying for a larger line if and when installed and also these three services
would be all that would be allowed and there would be no further extension of this particular line.
Councilman Stout moved that the permit be granted, seconded by Councilman Herkner providing that the
subject of safeguards as stated by Mr. Winter be included. City Engineer Jain stated that there were
several things which should be considered. This property owner awns about 1100 feet on Edgewood Road.
If this property is subdivided and then again resubdivided a two inch line would result in another
condition like Glenwood—Canyon Road situation. Mr. Jain spoke at some length in regard to the people
being made to put in a full line the width of their property. He stated that the California Water
Company could not service her but the Palomar Plater District will serve her but it will be very
expensive. Councilman Weiss offered a substitute motion that the permit be grnated, the City Attorney bow
to draw up an agreement that there will be no further extensions ecept with the stipulation that these
people agree to the condition that if it ever becomes necessary to enlarge the line then they will be
expected to pay their share of the cost. Councilman Herkner withdrew his second. A line of sufficient
size should be put in and if needed a six inch line be irr talled at least past the first three lots.
There was no motion before the floor because Councilman Stout withdrew his motion.
Councilman Herkner moved that the permit be granted with the condition that they put in a sufficient
line of sufficient diameter to take care of further development in that particular area in accordance
with the City Engineer and Water Superintendents suggestions. Water Superintendent Winter objected to
a 61' line, stating that they were not set up to give this much water. Councilman Herkner withdrew his
motion.
Councilman Herkner moved to deny the request. Councilman Britschgi appeared at 10:30 P. M. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Weiss. The situation was explained to Councilman Britschgi and the motion
carried on roll call with Councilman Stout and Mayor Royer voting No and Councilman Spillers being
noted absent.
COMMUNCIATION SAN MATEO COUNTY CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE REQUESTING A 'ROCLAMATION DECLARING THE CENTENNIAL
OBSERVANCE FROM JUNE 1 THROUGH OCTOBER 31. The Mayor announced that he had four people to serve on the Committee and he asked the Council
to suggest to him any people they thought might be interested in working on the committee*
APPLICATION FOR ALCOHOLIC LICENSE, CARL RAYMOND AND NE'LIE MAE BROOKS, 939 MAIN STREET. on sale beer license.
The notice was ordered filed.
COMMUNICATION PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION REGARDING SUGGESTED PLAN FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF GRADE CROSSING
