rwm <br />I_ R 7 <br />S. COCCO REQUEST REFUND OF BUILDING FEE OF . 18.00. BUILDING -PLAi,T ABAT,M0147D. The City Attorney said there <br />was no legal way that the City can return the money. The people might be given credit for any other build— <br />ing permit they might ask for. Based on the City Attorney's statement, Councilman Stout moved that the <br />request be denied, seconded by Councilman .eiss. Councilman Britschgi stated that the City is allowed to <br />return tax money and he asked that the City Attorney check into the matter and report back in one week. <br />Councilman Britschgi amended the motion and asked that the Attorney to work out an agreement and continue <br />the matter on the agenda for one week, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REGARDING OFFICIAL GUEEN FOR FIESTA. The Redwood City Junior Chamber of Commerce <br />requested the Council authorize them to select the official Redwood City candidate for the 1956 Centennial <br />San Mateo County fair and Floral Fiesta Dream Girl Contest. The Jr. C. of C. will hold a contest open to <br />all eligible condidates to select the prettiest girl in Redwood City. They will take care of all necessary <br />details and expenses necessary in the promotion of such a contest and subsequent action required to comply; <br />with the Dream Girl Contest regulations. Councilman Britschgi stated that the Council favors the contest, <br />and moved approval of request, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />PACIFIC TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH COMPANY LETTER OF APPRECIATION FOR STREET DEPARTMENT COOPERATION. The Clerk <br />read the letter. The Mayor extended thanks to the department that did the work. Councilman Britschgi <br />suggested that the letter be sent to the Street Department and placed on the bulletin board so the might all <br />read it. <br />NATIONAL GUARD DEPARTURE CEREMONY JUNE 15, 1956. Proclaim June 15th as National Guard Day. The Clerk read the <br />letter. Councilman Britschgi moved that the Council proclaim June 15th as National Guard Day, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers. Councilman Granger recommended that Councilman Britschgi include in his motion that <br />the Council will be present for the program scheduled at 7:30. Councilman Britschgi agreed and the motion <br />FM carried. <br />6M CLAIM JAMES MANGUSON ALLEGED INJURIES AT GARFIELD SCHOOL. This is outside the City Limits. Councilman Spillers <br />moved that the claim be denied, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />FURTHER DISCUSSION REGARDING PROPOSED EXTENSION OF FRANKLIN STREET AS PROPOSED BY THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC C,0l! ANY. <br />This was set for a study meeting on June 13th: <br />MRS. R. MURRAY REQUEST REVIEY7 OF APPLICATION FOR WATER SERVICE AT 1520.EDGEVTOOD ROAD. Denied at D2ay 28th meeting. <br />The Clerk read Mrs. Murray's letter. Water Superintendent Winter presented the Council with a sketch of the <br />property and the situation surrounding the property, and he explained what the Water Department could do in <br />the way of water service and whate would be expected of Mrs. Murray in the event the request was granted. <br />This was followed by discussion. Councilman Spillers moved that the permit be granted as recommended by <br />the hater Superintendent (the City would set the three crater meters, the people mould run their own line <br />from the meters in and they would have to take what the City offered). This motion lost for lack of a <br />P..., second. <br />6. This was followed by discussion. City Engineer Jain stated his reasoning in this situation which he feels <br />would eventually lead to the same trouble the City is now having with the Glenwood Avenue residents. The <br />Mayor asked if a 6" line would be sufficient. Mr. Jain thought that in all probability it would take care <br />of possible future development. Councilman Spillers moved that the permit be granted and the people be <br />required to put in a 6" line across the full length of the property, seconded by Councilman Granger. Motion <br />bow carried. <br />The Mayor announced that there would be a study meeting on June 13th, <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up an ordinance with regard to moving of <br />houses. He wanted to know who was supervising the moving of Davies house on Franklin Street. Councilman <br />Spillers seconded the motion which carried. <br />
