/-J 2 <br />you that when Jefferson Avenue is improved the school district will willingly participate <br />on the same basis as it has in other street improvement programs in the past. <br />Any thing you can do to relieve the school district of this financial burden will be <br />greatly appreciated. <br />(signed Andrew Spinas, City Superintendent) <br />Councilman Weiss moved approval of the Planning Commission's recommendation subject to the conditions <br />stated in the above letter, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE R. J. COSTELLO, POSSITION OF CITY ATTORNEY. The Clerk read the letter which was ordered ..ri <br />filed. Cou#cilman Weiss moved that the City Attorney be authorized to draw up the necessary ordinance <br />to establish the salary rate for a full time City Attorney, seconded by Councilman-Britschgi and carried. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Manager find suitable quarters for the new City Attorney, <br />seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />CHAMBER CF COMMERCE BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE REGARDING IMPR07EMENT UNTITDY APPEARANCE OF HARBOR BLVD. The <br />Clerk read the letter. Councilman Granger moved to refer this letter to the Port Commission for their <br />consideration. This motion lost for lact of a second. Councilman Stout moved that the Council do <br />everything possible to assist the Beautification Committee in their project if they will come in with <br />a recommendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Granger stated that this is an industrial <br />area and the Chamber of Commerce and the Port should be given consderation in this matter. This was <br />followed by discussion after which the motion carried. <br />Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that the City should contact the State in regard to burning the <br />weeds in this area, or possibly scrape down the weeds by Carlsons Tractor. He also raised the question <br />of burning in this area. Fire Chief Lodi stated that the City burned in this area today. The Mayor <br />asked that this be followed up by some authority. Councilman Stout raised the question of filling in <br />the ditches on both sides of harbor Blvd. This was followed by discussion. There wasn't much the <br />City could do because this property is outside the City limits. mow <br />CLAIM BY D. MC ELROY FOR ALLEGED INJURIES AT INTERSECTION OF SECOND AVENUE AND SPRING STREET (outside City <br />Limits). Councilman Britschgi moved that the claim be denied and referred to the insurance sarrier, <br />seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />Councilmen Britschgi, Granger, Royer, Spillers and Stout reported that they would attend the League Dinner on <br />Thursday night. Councilman Weiss will attend the meeting in San Mateo. <br />The Mayor announced that the Council would meet in the City Manager's office at 7:30 a week from next Wednesday <br />to meet with the Memorial Commission, July 25th. <br />Councilman Granger asked that the Broadway Improvement Club be given a hearing this same night. The <br />Mayor set the time of 8:00 P. M. an this same night, July 25th. <br />TRANSFER OF FUND TO CLOSE ACCOUNTS AS OF THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR.
