Police Chief
Faulstich stated that they should be through by Friday of this week.
Councilman Granger wanted to know what happened to the No Left Turn signs on Bayshore. Police Chief
Faulstich stated that the signs were on order.
Councilman Granger wanted to know if the Department Heads had taken any action in regard to getting the
pumper from Sacramento. Fire Chief Lodi stated that they were going to Sacramento sometime this week.
Councilman Herkner reported on the matter of covering a portion of the creek on Middlefield Road adjacent
to the Penney Parking Lot which had been referred to the Parking Lot Committee. Mr. Adamson has woo
been engaged to look into this matter and had suggested that they should, rather than put in a
divider, put a manhole in the sidewalk and also put in a trash rack. The property owners are willing
to cover the creek at this point at no cost to the City with the exception of paying for the trash rack,
manhole and replacement of support of sidewalk. The Committee recommends that the Council approve the
money for this work when and if Mr. Adamson come in with the proper placement of the manhole and the
trash rack. Councilman Herkner so moved (approval of the Committee's recommendation), seconded by
Councilman Spillers. City Attorney Currie stated this should be subject to the property owners
being willing to do the work at no cost to the City other than the work mentioned above and that the
property owners fulfill their part to cover the creek. If they object to the manholes in the
sidewalk, then the Committee will have to contact the owners in a further attempt to reach an agree -
meet. Councilman Herkner added to his, motion the stipulation that the property owners fulfill their
part in covering the creek at no cost to the City other than the manhole, the trash rack and replace -
went of support of sidewalk. This was approved by the second and the motion carried.
Mayor Rayer returned at 10:42 P. M.
Councilman Herkner stated that the Parking Lot Committee considered the ownership of the creek between
Pulgas line and Middlefield Road and its is desirable to obtain ownership of the creek for completion
of the parking lot. The majority of the Committee feel that the City should obtain ownership of the
creek. Councilman Herkner moved that the City obtain the creek, the price to be obtained by negoti-
ation, seconded by Councilman Spillers. This was followed by discussion after which the motion carried.
Councilman Stout wanted to know how soon the Southern Pacific was going to start work on the Chestnut
Street development. City Manager Rolison stated that the material was on order. It was the general
feeling of the Council that they do nothing on this subject until such time as Broadway work is
completed.
Councilman Spillers spoke in regard to the Glenwood District.
