�. <br />A <br />'L� <br />_ 0 T <br />It is also understood that we will be available to city officials for advice and <br />counsel on accounting matters at any time, as we have in past years. <br />Although the City is constantly growing, resulting in a corresponding increase <br />in the volumn of details in the financial records, we -have not increased our total charges <br />to the city for the past two years. However, our time will be computed at the same <br />per diem special rates, it: --being understood that the maximum fee for the 1956-57 <br />audits will not exceed the sum of $2,000.00, the city to receive the benefit of all <br />saving of time. . <br />Thanking you, we are, <br />Yours very truly, <br />C. G. Uhlenberg & Co. <br />Councilman Jones moved approval of the letter and authorized the (pity Manager to -accept the bid, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers. City Attorney Currie stated that this was not a bid but because it is a service <br />the City could accept the offer. Motion carried on roll call with Mayor Herkner voting NO. <br />Councilman Britschgi asked to refer back to item #13 on the agenda, stop signs. There was a discussion in <br />regard to stopping traffic on Brewster Avenue. This was explained by Fire Chief Lodi. King Street is <br />the only street which is a direct and through street into Edgewood Park. <br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUEST CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON FREEWAY PROPERTY. Councilman Granger moved approval of <br />the request, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION GAVE PRELIMINARY APPROVAL TO THE ANNEXATION CF THE ANNEXATION OF THE EMERALD LAKES AREA <br />COVERED BY PETITION FILED WITH THE CITY COUNCIL. Councilman Royer reported that this is on the Planning <br />Commission agenda for March 27 th. Councilman Spillers moved to refer this to the Engineering Department <br />for their recommendation, seconded by Councilman Jones. This was followed by discussion after which the <br />motion carried. Fire Chief Lodi stated that fire protection will not be available to this area for some <br />time. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, CITY COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS: <br />Councilman Britschgi stated that he had a petition from the property owners in the vicinity of Woodside Road <br />from Oxford Street to Gordon Street requesting that the eucalyptus trees on Woodside Road be topped. <br />Councilman Brtischgi moved to have the City Manager contact the State in regard to topping trees on Woodside <br />Road from Oxford to Valota Road, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Granger wanted to know what the final result was with the P. G. & E. and the City in regard to two <br />poles on the State Highway. A new lighting system was put in on the west side of El Camino Real from <br />Brewster Avenue to Broadway and something should be done to get the old poles taken down. This was followed <br />by discussion after which Councilman Granger moved to place this matter cn the agenda and the P. G. & E. <br />be contacted and told that the time limit is up and the poles must be taken down, seconded by Councilman <br />Royer and carried. <br />Councilman Granger brought up the question of Recreation budgeting and the possibility of setting the Recreation <br />program on the same basis as the Library Board, population basis. Councilman Granger moved that the City <br />Manager take this recommendation into consideration, seconded by Councilman Stout who concurred with <br />Councilman Granger and stated that this was a step in the right direction. This was followed by considerable <br />discussion after which the motion carried with Councilmen Britschgi, Jones and Spillers voting NO. <br />Councilman Royer asked if City Engineer Jain would consider the possibility of an assessment district for a bridge <br />at Redwood Avenue and Fairview. City Engineer Jain stated that only the property owners above the bridge <br />would be interested, and he asked if this could wait until after budget time. <br />Councilman Royer spoke in reference to the property next to the Y. M. Co A. and asked to place this matter on the <br />agenda for next Monday night. <br />Councilman Stout spoke of the work being done on Chestnut Street. He was of the opinion that something should <br />be done with the switch tracks. City Engineer Jain stated that a delegation from the Southern Pacific Company <br />had checked into the matter, however, nothing has been done. <br />
