1,20 <br />That I have carefully compared the same with the original minutes of said meeting <br />on file and of record in my office and that said resolution is a full, true and correct <br />copy of the original resolution adopted at said meeting and entered in Book 26 of <br />Minutes, at pages 116 to 120, inclusive. That said resolution has not been amended, <br />modified or rescinded since the date of its adoption and the same is now in full force <br />and effect. <br />WITNESS my hand and the seal of the City of Redwood City, this 18 day of <br />April, 1956. <br />1n <br />0 <br />City Clerk of the City of Redwood City, <br />Califonnia <br />The minutes of April 2nd and April 9th were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded <br />by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />REMARKS, OUTGOING AND INCOLING COUNCILMEN. Councilman Spillers, Granger, and Herkner expressed their thanks <br />to the voters who returned them to the Council for another four years and expressed their appreciation <br />to Paul Jones for his cooperation during his years on the Council. Col. Louis Weiss expressed his <br />thanks to the voters. Acting Police Chief Theodore Moudakas expressed his thanks as well as those of <br />Police Chief Faulstich, the Police Department and the Committee who worked so hard, to the voters for <br />passing the bond issue in regard to the much needed police building. <br />COUNCIL ADJOURNED SINE DIE on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Mayor Herkner announced that there would not be a recess because of the many items listed on the agenda. <br />CITY CLERK DODGE called the meeting to order at 9:10 P.M. and administered the Oath of Office to the newly <br />elected members of the City Council, namely Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Robert V. Spillers and <br />Col. Louis Weiss, all of whom were elected for the ensuing four years. <br />City Clerk Dodge then called for nominations for Mayor for the next two years. Councilman Weiss <br />nominated Councilman Hiram S. Stout. Councilman Spillers nominated nominted Councilman 7Ti.11iam H. Royer. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that the nomination be closed, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />On roll call Councilman Stout received the vote of himself and Councilman Weiss, Councilman Royer <br />receiving the votes of Councilmen Britschgi, Granger, Herkner, Spillers and himself. The Clerk declared <br />Councilman Royer Mayor for the next ensuing two years. Councilman Weiss stated that though the vote <br />was 5 to 2 he was of the opinion that the vote should in the interest of harmony be unanimous and he <br />moved that Councilman Royer be given an unanimous vote for ?Mayor, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br />carried. <br />Mayor Royer expressed his appreciation for the honor bestowed upon him and promised to work had and do <br />what is good for Redwood City. He congratulated Councilman Herkner on his job as the previous Mayor <br />and he congratulated Councilman Weiss on his good race. He expressed his sorrow in the loss of Paul <br />Jones but he was sure that Councilman Weiss would do a good job. Mayor Royer stated that Councilman <br />Granger did not need congratulations as it has become a habit for him to be re—elected, and he extended <br />congratulations to Councilmen Herkner and Spillers. Mayor Royer read a letter from the former Council— <br />man Jones. <br />Mayor Royer introduced his mother and father, his two sisters, Rosemary and Barbara, his 13 year old son <br />Denny and little Bill, and last but not least his wife, Shirley. <br />Words on congrtulation were extended by Bud Stevenson, President of the Chamber of Commerce. The <br />Councilmen each in turn congratulated Mayor Royer offered him their wholehearted support during his <br />term of office as Mayor. <br />i <br />PUBLIC HEARING, OFFICIAL PLAN LINES CARLOS AVENUE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION. Affidavits of <br />publication and mailing were ordered filed. There were no written protests. The Clerk mead the Planning <br />Commission's letter wherein they stated that there was considerable opposition at the public hearings <br />and several in support of the plan lines.
