The Mayor stated
that this was not properly before the Council but, since Mrs . Anderson had contacted
several members of the Council and they made a field trip to look the situation over,
the Council felt that the Planning Commission should reconsider the matter and possibly
make a field trip and check the matter again. Councilman Spillers moved that this
matter be referred to the Planning Commission to make a field trip to check this matter
and waive the $25.00 fee, the Planning Commission to act on their own initiative,
seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. He also
stated that he would like to set two study meetings for next week. After discussion it
was decided that the Council would meet on Wednesday and Thursday nights, June 12th and
13th, to discuss the budget.
Councilman Weiss called the Council' s attention to the delay they were experiencing in
considering the Civil Defense program notwithstanding Council affirmation some three
(: months ago to consider at least the first portions which involves the setting up of the
machinery of administration and planning. To avoid possibility that nothing may be done
with or about this question because of failure to make provisions in the budget soon to
be considered and finalized, I would like to urge that we at least instruct the City
Attorney upon the City Manager' s recommendation to make provisions in the salary
ordinance now being drafted for a suitable position and salary range for the position of
Deputy Director of Civil Defense and Disaster as indicated in recent survey of Civil
P Y y
Defense set up for this community. This was followed by discussion.
