Councilman Spillers moved to set the public <br /> hearing for two weeks, January 28th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION REQUEST THAT THE COUNCIL GIVE CONSIDERATION TO THE EMPLOYMENT OF A PLANNING DIRECTOR <br /> of sufficient experience to be of value to the City of Redwood City in it planning program. The <br /> City Manager stated that they plan to hire a full time planning technician. The examination will <br /> be held February 2nd. The full time planning director will be considered during budget study meetings. <br /> This was followed by discussion. Planning Commissioner Rambo spoke on the subject and stressed the <br /> need of a full time planning staff. Councilman Weiss suggested that the Mayor set this matter for <br /> a study meeting before this is to be considered at budget time. Councilman Granger moved that the <br /> City Manager submit a full report before budget time, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br /> The American Legion asked the Mayor to proclaim January 18th and 19th as Blue Cross Crutch Day and they <br /> asked permission to solicit for money for the polio fund. Councilman Granger moved that permission <br /> be granted, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. The Mayor proclaimed January 18th and 19th <br /> as Blue Cross Crutch Day and asked the newspapers to carry the story on page one. <br /> CITY MANAGER REPORT REGARDING ADVISABILITY OF ENTERING INTO AGREEMENT WITH COUNTY REGARDING ASSESSMENTS AND <br /> TAX COLLECTIONS. The City Manager submitted the report he had previously made dated August 27, 1956. <br /> The City Manager recommended against entering into an agreement. Councilman Spillers moved to accept 1"1 <br /> the City Manager's recommendation and the matter be dropped from the agenda, seconded by Councilman <br /> Granger. Councilman Weiss stated that he feels that this report fails to give the full report. He <br /> wanted other comparative data with other cities and he believes that the matter should be studied <br /> further. This was followed by discussion. The City Manager stated that the City did not have funds <br /> to pursue the matter further and the City can only assess the taxes up to $1.00 for the general fund. <br /> This was followed by further discussion after which the motion carried with Councilman Weiss voting <br /> No. Counci].dan Weiss was against taking the matter _off the agenda. <br /> CITY MANAGER NOTES ON ADJUSTING BUILDING PERMIT FEES. Councilman Spillers moved that this matter be set <br /> for a study session, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br /> COUNCIL DISPOSITION OF ITEMS, SOUND-PROOF COUNCIL CHAMBERS. The Clerk announced that the only report they <br /> had was the report submitted by George Erskine dated April 12, 1956. Councilman Weiss moved to set <br /> this matter for a study session, seconded by Councilman Herkner. City Manager, when and if he makes another report, that he consider <br /> come other plan. Councilman Weiss moved that the City Manager be requested to make a comprehensive <br /> study of this problem and to give an alternate plan, seconded by Councilman Granger.
