Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br /> Redwood City Council <br /> January 21, 1957, 8:00 P.M. <br /> Invocation was led by Reverend Roland Edgeworth,.Pastor First Baptist Church. <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Robert <br /> V. Spillers, Hiram S. Stout* Louis Weiss, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. <br /> Dodge. Also present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Attorney Robert Costello, City Engineer <br /> Glenn M. Jain, Assistant to City Manager L. A. Kimball,, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter,' Assistant ,.. <br /> Water Superintendent Warren Mitchell, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Police Chief William Faulstich, Building <br /> Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Assessor-Auditor John J. Brophy, Planning Commissioner-Carl Sjoberg and <br /> Account-Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br /> Councilman Spillers moved approval of the minutes of January 7th and 14th as mailed, seconded by Council- <br /> man Weymouth. Councilman Weiss stated that he had a correction to make on the minutes of January 14th, <br /> page 3, second paragraph - the words assessments should read sanitary. Councilman Herkner stated <br /> that,- to be consistent, he could not approve the minutes of January 7th as he had previously stated <br /> at the Council meeting of January 14th. The motion carried with Councilman Herkner voting NO. <br /> Jim Paxton, Chamber of Commerce representative, presented the students who would be acting as Councilman <br /> on Youth Day. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORT REGARDING CLIFF HUDDIE TON REQUEST FOR DANCING PERMIT. An examination of the property <br /> was made and it was found that all of the conditions set forth in the recommendation to the Council <br /> dated August 3, 1956, have not been met. The following conditions, required by Building and Fire <br /> Codes, must be corrected: <br /> 1. The two rear exit stairs are to comply with the Building Code. <br /> 2. Panic hardware is to be installed on the front and rear exit doors of the new addition. <br /> 3. Exit lights are to be installed in the new addition as required by the Code. <br /> 4. Remove the existing front porch as submitted in the plans or make the porch comply with <br /> the Building Code requirements. <br /> 5. Provide necessary vents in the existing old building. <br /> 6. The stucco on the exterior is to comply with local ordinances. <br /> 7. Electrical wiring such as drop cords shall be eliminated and conduit installed. <br /> If the above conditions are corrected to the satisfaction of the Fire and Building Departments, the <br /> committee recommends the issuance of a dance permit subject to the following conditions: <br /> 1. No outdoor dancing. <br /> 2. All dancing must be in separate room. <br /> 3. No advertising should be permitted. <br /> 4. Dancing should be permitted only from noon to 1:00 A. M. to a juke box except on Sundays. On <br /> Sundays he be permitted, during the hours, to have a four piece band maximum. _ _ <br /> 5. No outside loud speaker should be permitted. <br /> 6. Any permit granted should be revocable at the option of an in the absolut discretion of the <br /> Council of Redwood City without notice to the applicant upon the recommendation of the Chief <br /> of Police. <br /> • The existing Use Permit granted by the Planning Commission prohibits dancing, therefore the applicant <br /> Pogo <br /> will have to Obtain a new Use Permit to allow dancing in addition to the dance permit to be obtained <br /> from the City Council., <br /> Councilmen Granger asked that on addition be included to the conditions, if a liquor license is issued <br /> that the permit will be revoked. The Committee agreed to this condition. Councilman Spillers moved <br /> approval of the recommendation, granting of the permit subject to conditions stated in the recommendation <br /> and adding the condition of the liquor license, seconded by Councilman Weiss.
