Councilman Weiss changed his motion to 48 hours before the Council meeting, seconded by Councilman Granger who asked that the wording be changed to "May be introduced". Councilman Weiss accepted this correction. Councilman Stout stated that he did not want to do away with the Council having the ordinance read if they so wished. The motion carried. CARLTON WHITEHEAD PERTAINING TO WAYNE COURT. Mr. Whitehead requested a clarification with regard to the zoning of the proposed "Wayne Court" subdivision in Friendly Acres. The Clerk read the letter. Planning Commissioner McDonald stated that this is in a R-2 zone with a provision they can not build as R-2 zoning. Councilman Spillers moved to request the Planning Commission to have this item placed on their agenda next week for a report back to the Council in one week, seconded by Council- man Herkner and carried. CIVIC PLAYERS REQUEST PERMISSION TO HANG BANNER ACROSS BROADWAY. The Clerk read the letter wherein the group stated that they would be covered by the usual insurance. Councilman Weiss moved to grant the request as long as they would carry the proper insurance, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. Councilman Spillers offered ORDINANCE 847 INCREASING TAXI RATES and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call. PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION ON OFFICIAL PLAN LINES, JEFFERSON AVENUE, BETWEEN EL CAMINO REAL AND MIDDLEFIELD ROAD ON OWN INITIATIVE. Proposed 81' r/w would provide four 12' travel lanes, two 8' parking lanes and two 8' sidewalks. Councilman Spillers moved to set this matter for a public hearing in two weeks, March 4th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING PURCHASE OF PORTABLE BLEACHERS FOR COMMUNITY PARK. The Clerk read the letter wherein the Commission asked the Council to purchase new portable sal bleachers at a cost of $1,835.46 from the Capital Project Fund. The Clerk also read a letter submitted by the City Manager wherein he recommended that this purchase be made, providing pay- ment can be made from the Capital Project Fund. Since there is no budget appropriation for this item it will be necessary that an ordinance be adopted making this appropriation. Councilman Spillers offered the necessary resolution. This was followed by discussion. Council- man Weiss was of the opinion that this should be held over for budget time and they should take the bleachers from Hawes Park back to Community Park. Councilman Granger asked the Department Heads in the future that they consider these items at budget time and not ask for additional funds later in the year or transfer from other funds. This was followed by discussion. Council- man Spillers changed his motion to have the City Attorney draw up the necessary ordinance, seconded ii by Councilman Stout and carried. Chester Lebsack asked the Council to direct the City Attorney to prepare a resolution for a variance in ■'el front setbacks in Farm Hill Subdivision and then if it is approved next week there won't have to ...r be any delay. Councilman Herkner so moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. Councilman Stout moved that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare an ordinance that in the event Paw that the County or the other Peninsula Cities have not adopted a sales tax ordinance by February ..rr 1st that the Council will put the matter on the ballot for the April elction in 1958. The City Attorney will prepare the ordinance and then the Council will hold a study session. The motion _ was seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. Claims 21724, through 21852, totaling $102,535.73, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Herkner, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried.
