Councilman Weiss accepted this correction. Councilman Stout stated that he did not <br /> want to do away with the Council having the ordinance read if they so wished. The motion carried. <br /> CARLTON WHITEHEAD PERTAINING TO WAYNE COURT. Mr. Whitehead requested a clarification with regard to <br /> the zoning of the proposed "Wayne Court" subdivision in Friendly Acres. The Clerk read the letter. <br /> Planning Commissioner McDonald stated that this is in a R-2 zone with a provision they can not <br /> build as R-2 zoning. Councilman Spillers moved to request the Planning Commission to have this item <br /> placed on their agenda next week for a report back to the Council in one week, seconded by Council- <br /> man Herkner and carried. <br /> CIVIC PLAYERS REQUEST PERMISSION TO HANG BANNER ACROSS BROADWAY. The Clerk read the letter wherein the <br /> group stated that they would be covered by the usual insurance. Councilman Weiss moved to grant <br /> the request as long as they would carry the proper insurance, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br /> carried. <br /> Councilman Spillers offered ORDINANCE 847 INCREASING TAXI RATES and moved its adoption, seconded by <br /> Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION ON OFFICIAL PLAN LINES, JEFFERSON AVENUE, BETWEEN EL CAMINO REAL <br /> AND MIDDLEFIELD ROAD ON OWN INITIATIVE. Proposed 81' r/w would provide four 12' travel lanes, <br /> two 8' parking lanes and two 8' sidewalks. Councilman Spillers moved to set this matter for a <br /> public hearing in two weeks, March 4th, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING PURCHASE OF PORTABLE BLEACHERS FOR COMMUNITY <br /> PARK. The Clerk read the letter wherein the Commission asked the Council to purchase new portable sal <br /> bleachers at a cost of $1,835.46 from the Capital Project Fund. The Clerk also read a letter <br /> submitted by the City Manager wherein he recommended that this purchase be made, providing pay- <br /> ment can be made from the Capital Project Fund. Since there is no budget appropriation for this <br /> item it will be necessary that an ordinance be adopted making this appropriation. <br /> Councilman Spillers offered the necessary resolution. This was followed by discussion. Council- <br /> man Weiss was of the opinion that this should be held over for budget time and they should take <br /> the bleachers from Hawes Park back to Community Park. Councilman Granger asked the Department <br /> Heads in the future that they consider these items at budget time and not ask for additional <br /> funds later in the year or transfer from other funds. This was followed by discussion. Council- <br /> man Spillers changed his motion to have the City Attorney draw up the necessary ordinance, seconded <br /> ii <br /> by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> Chester Lebsack asked the Council to direct the City Attorney to prepare a resolution for a variance in ■'el <br /> front setbacks in Farm Hill Subdivision and then if it is approved next week there won't have to ...r <br /> be any delay. The City <br /> Attorney will prepare the ordinance and then the Council will hold a study session.
