4 0 <br /> Councilman Weiss asked the City Engineer to check into the matter of the catch basin. <br /> RESOLUTION GRANTING VARIANCES ON FRONT SET-BACKS IN FARM HILLS SUBDIVISION. The City Attorney read the <br /> title of the resolution. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 2189 GRANTING VARIANCES FROM CERTAIN <br /> PROVISIONS OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RED:'OOD CITY and moved its adoption, seconded by <br /> Councilman Weymouth. Councilman Weiss read a prepared statement w herein he questioned whether the <br /> provisions of Section 20 of the Zoning Ordinance were being complied with, especially sub section 5. <br /> Councilman Weiss referred to the people on Hampton Avenue who were cited by the Planning Commission <br /> for certain violations which may have been in the same category as in this case. He wanted to make <br /> certain that the people on Hampton Avenue are given equal consideration when their cases are deter- <br /> mined. The City Attorney stated the matter of Hamptoon Avenue was not brought before the Council but "i <br /> was turned over to a committee named by the Planning Commission. This committee has met and <br /> settled the matter. The motion carried on roll call. <br /> INTRODUCE ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $9,597.66 FROM STUISAFT PARK FUND FOR PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, CONSTRUCTION, <br /> ETC. OF PHASE NO. 1. The Clerk read the title of the ordinance. Councilman Spillers offered <br /> introduction of the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br /> RESOLUTION, BY AREA RAPID TRANSIT. The Clerk read the title of the resolution. Councilman Herkner <br /> offered REESOLTION 2190 MAKING CERTAIN RECOMMENDATIONS IN REGARD TO LEGISLATION ESTABLISHING THE SAN <br /> FRANCISCO BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br /> and carried on roll call. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING $1,835.46 FROM CAPITAL PROJECT FUND TO COVER COST OF BLEACHERS <br /> AT COMMUNITY PARK. The City Attorney read the title of the ordinance. Councilman Spillers offered <br /> the introduction of the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Granger. Councilman Weiss read a prepared <br /> statement in which he stated that when the budget for the current fiscal year was prepared and adopted <br /> this item could well have been provided for. The need now is no more urgent then it was at that <br /> time, and should therefor be held in abeyance for consideration in preparation of the budget for <br /> the next fiscal year. The statement went into detail on his thinking in the matter. Councilman <br /> Granger stated that he seconded the motion, not because he like this, but because it was decided <br /> that this was an emergency. He thought these items should be considered at budget time. This was <br /> followed by discussion after which the motion carried on roll call with Councilmen Herkner and Weiss <br /> voting NO. <br /> UNION OIL COMPANY REQUEST WIDENING OF DRIVEWAY ON STATION AT EL CAMINO REAL AND BROADWAY FROM 29' to 38' . <br /> Councilman Herkner diqualified himself from acting on this question as he felt he had some interest <br /> in this problem. The Clerk read the letter. The City Engineer recommended against this request, <br /> as driveway permit was fissured to Union Oil Co. to move driveway south and a portion of the work was <br /> allowed to be done on condition that the other end would be reconstructed to standard curb and <br /> r.rr <br /> sidewalk. All other service stations have been denied driveways wider then the 29' overall width <br /> allowed by ordinance. <br /> Councilman Weiss moved a pp roval of the City Engineer's recommendation to de ny the request, seconded <br /> ed <br /> by Councilman Stout. Councilman Spillers asked if the Traffic Committee had looked at this. Mr. ""' <br /> Jain stated that this was not a matter for the Traffic Committee as it was going against an ordinance. <br /> This was followed by discussion after which the motion carried, Councilman Spillers voting NO. <br /> SHELL OIL COMPANY REQUEST ABANDONMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICE EASEMENT IN LOTS 1 & 2 , BLOCK 9, REDWOOD CITY <br /> TERRACE NO. 4. The City Attorney recommended that this matter be referred to the Planning <br /> Commission. Councilman Spillers moved to refer this to the Planning Commission on the recommendation <br /> of the City Attorney, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />
