4 E <br /> Councilman Herkner spoke on the matter of the deficit raised by Mr. Phelan. This was followed by <br /> discussion. Councilman Weiss suggested the possibility of developing Perry Street Parking Lot and <br /> eliminating one store in the 2600 Block of Broadway to provide an entrance from Broadway. Councilman <br /> Granger stated that if the merchants want to have a parking lot, then the City should let them as <br /> long as they, the merchants, are going to pay the bill. Councilman Herkner stated that some of the <br /> remarks made by Councilman Weiss were correct and that is why he thinks they need the survey. Council- <br /> man ';Zeiss stated that he was in favor of the survey but he was not in favor of the City advancing the <br /> money because there is a possibility that the City could not recover the money if the matter should not <br /> go through. The motion carried on roll call with Councilman '.`Zeiss voting NO. <br /> The Mayor recognized a group from the Adult Education Class from Sequoia Union High School. <br /> PERSONAL APPEARANCE, CHESTER LEBSACK. Mr. Lebsack asked the Council for five minutes in order to present <br /> a proposed ordinance in regard to the sales tax. He stated that petitions had been circulated and <br /> so far they had 5799 signatures on the petition against the ordinance and 5784 on the petition against <br /> the charter amendment. Mr. Lebsack read his proposed ordinance delaying the effective date of ordinances <br /> numbered 8t3 and 814 levying a sales and use tax respectively in the City of Redwood City. He asked <br /> the Council to consider this ordinance before the sales tax goes into effect on April 1st. <br /> Councilman Granger moved that the suggested ordinance offered by Mr. Lebsack be copied and a copy be <br /> furnished to each of the councilmen, the Mayor to call a study meeting to have the Council determine <br /> the action to be taken, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br /> ADOPT ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 813 ESTABLISHING POTTERS AND DUTTFS, VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING COHNESSION. <br /> The Clerk read the title of the ordinance. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. Councilma <br /> Spillers offered ORDINANCE 850 AMENDING SECTIONS 6 AND 7 OF ORDINANCE 813 TO REDEFINE THE OBJECTIVES, <br /> POTTERS AND DUTIES OF THE VETERANS MEMORIAL COMt1ISSION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY and moved its <br /> adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss. Councilman Granger stated that he still was not satisfied with <br /> the present situation, however, he is not against the ordinance. The motion carried on roll call. <br /> ADOPT ORDINANCE GOVERNING DISPOSITION OF ANNEXATION FEES, CHARGES, ETC. The affidavit of publication- was <br /> ordered filed. The Clerk read the title of the ordinance. Councilman Weiss offered ORDINANCE 851 <br /> TRANSFERRING PROCEEDS OF ANNEXATION FEES, CHARGES AND/OR TAXES FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO THE CAPITAL <br /> PROJECT FUND FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PURPOSES and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br /> and carried on roll call. <br /> • <br /> INTRODUCE ORDINANCE REZONING LOTS 1 TO 5, BLOCK 1, ROBELET SUBDIVISION, FROM R-2 TO R-3. The Clerk read <br /> the title of the proposed ordinance. Councilman Spillers offered the introduction of the ordinance, <br /> seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br /> INTRODUCE ORDINANCE REZONING LOT 5 and portion of LOT 6, BLOCK A, WOODSIDE ACRES, FROM R-2 TO R-3. The <br /> Clerk r ead the title of the proposed ordinance after which Councilman Weymouth offered the introduction <br /> of the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO REVOCABLE PERMIT ISSUED TO MONTGO, ERWARD IN CONI\FECTION WITH PARKING LOT NO. 2. <br /> The Clerk read the title of the resolution. Councilman Stout offered RESOLUTION 2199 GRANTING REVOCABBLE <br /> PERMISSION TO MONTGOMERY WARD & CO., INCORPORATED, TO CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN REAR ENTRANCE AND EXIT <br /> mmq <br /> FACILITY ADJACENT TO PUBLIC PARKING LOT NO. 2 and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Weiss <br /> and carried on roll call. <br /> amid <br /> PETITION CONTAINING 309 ANMES REQUESTING SIDEWALKS ON VALOTA ROAD NEAR ST. PIUS CHURCH AND SCHOOL. The <br /> Clerk read the petition and accompanying letter. Councilman Spillers moved that this be turned over <br /> to the City Engineer and a letter be written to the person who circulated the petition and tell them <br /> that this is already included in the overall Kentfield-Palm-Valota Road Improvement District.
