PLANNING COPWSSION RECOMMENDS DENIAL OF ANTHONY E. AND ANNA H. FRITTS APPLICATION TO REZONE LOT 144 <br />BLOCK 112 MAP OF EAGLE HILL ADDITION (1336 Jefferson Avenue) FROM R-3 to R-4 DISTRICT. Councilman <br />Rosselli moved that the public hearing be set for October 6th, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES FILED BY DANIEL JOSEPH DESMOND, MICHELLE DESMOND AND W. F. GLENNON, Councilman Rosselli <br />moved that the claims be denied and referred to the insurance carrier, seconded by Councilman Herkner <br />and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REQUESTS CONSIDERATION Ort ORDINANCE NO. 372, BARBER SHOP ORDINANCE. After discussion, <br />Councilman Spillers moved that a public hearing be held on October 6th, seconded by Councilman Herkner <br />and carried. The City Clerk was directed to mail notices to all local barbers. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: Joint Interim Committee on Highways Problems will hold a hearing in San Francisco in <br />Board of Supervisors Chambers, City Hall on October 2nd, covering the San Mateo County in the afternoon <br />at which time the local impact of the statewide freeway and expressway system as proposed in the report <br />of the Department of Public Works to the Joint Committee will be examined. City Clerk was directed to <br />notify council members prior to date indicated. <br />INTERIM REPORT OF THE MAYOR'S COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. Members: Councilman L. Wiess, Chairman <br />J. Reg Wahl, Secretary and Mr. McCondochiey Redwood City Chamber of Commerce. <br />Purpose To obtain facts relative to the Public Transportation situation in Redwood City and to <br />recommend a program to fulfill transportation needs of this eomunity. <br />Local Scope The newspaper poll and a poll of industrial employees indicate the following conclusions: <br />1e those people not having private vehicles are desirous of having the bus subsidized; <br />2* people who hav-- transportation to not see any need for subsidization, and <br />3• the industrial employees riding buses are of such a small number that a subsidy is not <br />warranted. <br />Inter -City Problem._ Representatives of Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City and SanCarlos have form- <br />ulated the "Inter -City Peninsula Transit Study Committee". Councilman Weiss will serve as Chairman <br />and Mr. Wahl as Secretary. _ <br />The following committees were established by the Inter -City group: <br />1. A committee to ascertain what professional surveys would be necessary to answer existing and <br />future problems and indicating: <br />a) feasibility of having a survey. <br />b) approximate date of survey. <br />c) cost involved (Some formula will be developed to pro -rate cos t) <br />2. A committee to review various alternative approaches to meet the current needs for Public <br />Transportation. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that a recess be held to reconvene at 9:15 P. m. at which time the report of the <br />committee checking the petitions opposed to annexation would be discussed, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried. Recessed at 8:30 P. m. <br />Meeting reconvened at 9:30 P• m. <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF WATER AND SEWERAGE SERVICE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SEQUOIA <br />HOSPITAL DISTRICT AND THE CITY CF REUPOOD CITY. Councilman Weymouth moved that this matter be continued <br />for one week to September 22, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Claims 36833 through 269623 totaling $68,729.19, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Weymouth, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING ON ANNEXATION OF HIGHLANDS TERRITORY N0. 7 was reopened at 905 p.m. The <br />Committee, under the chairmanship of Reg Wahl, reported that signatures of those opposing annexation <br />mere insufficient and being approximately 35% of assessed valuation according to the County Assessor's <br />records. Mayor Royer advised the people in the audience that there would be a period of 10 additional <br />days to continue circulation of petition which must be turned in to the City Clerk's office by 5 o'clock <br />p. m., September 25. <br />
