Spillers being noted absent. <br />CITY ENGINEER REGARDING ACQUISITION OF STATE-OWNED PROPERTY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF INDUSTRIAL WAY AT WHIPPLE <br />E . <br />AVENUE. Councilman Granger moved approval of the City Engineer's recommendation and referred it to the <br />City Attorney for the necessary ordinance, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />CONSIDERATION OF AN AGREEMENT FOR EXCHANGE OF PROPERTY ON INDUSTRIAL WAY FOR STREET AND PUBLIC UTILITY EASE - <br />TIENT ON "D" STREET AND TACOMA WAY (City -Nielson & Ellis). Councilman Weymouth moved to refer this to <br />the City Attorney for further action, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMEND LOCATING UTILITY POLES AT REAR OF LOTS IN STEVEN COURT (between Roosevelt <br />and Oak, Oliver and McKinley). Councilman Stout moved approval of the Planning Commission's recommend- <br />ation, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />It was announced that the Council would meet on Friday at 4 p.mo with the Port officials to discuFs the <br />bond issue. <br />The Clerk announced that he had received a petition from the residents of "A" Street protesting the grant- <br />ing of a use permit to J. E. Farrar for the erection of a service station on the 700 block of Whipple <br />Avenue. Councilman Herkner moved to refer the matter of the petition to the City Attorney for proper <br />procedure, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />Councilman Granger asked about the status of the lighting in the business district. The City Engineer <br />stated that this was referred to the Street Lighting Committee. The Committee will set a date to meet <br />with the City Engineer and City Manager to discuss the ma tier. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the matter of the protest over the granting of the use permit to J. E. Ferrar <br />be set for public hearing on February 3rd, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />Councilman Stout referred to an article appearing in the January 20th Forum Column of the Tribune. Council- <br />man Stout moved that the City Engineer prepare an appropriate answer to the party and inform them of <br />the whys and wherefores, seconded by Councilman Herkner. The Motion lost on roll call vote with Council- <br />men Herkner and Stout voting Yes, Councilmen Granger, Weiss, Weymouth and P,dayor Royer voting No, and <br />Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />Councilman. Weiss referred to the proposed annexation of a piece of property adjacent to Johns Manville prop- <br />erty including a discussion in regard to water service. The Mayor stated that they were going to have <br />a meeting next Monday. <br />Councilman Weiss spoke with regard to the Personnel Board recommendations and moved that the Council hold a <br />r-- meeting with the Personnel Board and study the matter before the Council. takes further and final action, <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.- <br />Claims 24638 through 211828, totaling $149,814.66, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Herkner, second- <br />ed by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the meeting be adjourned to January 27th at 8:00 p.me seconded by Councilman <br />Weymouth and carried.
