32 <br />RECOMMENDATION ON AWARDING BIDS FOR THE SEffAGE WORKS ENLARGEMENTS AND RESOLUTION AWARDING BIDS ON THE CONSTRUCTION <br />CF <br />REIMfOOD CITY SEWAGE WORKS <br />ENLARGEMENTS. The'City Engineer recommends that <br />the <br />contract for construction <br />be <br />awarded to the low bidders <br />S & Q Construction Company, South San Francisco, <br />in <br />the amount of $945013.00. <br />Councilman Herkner moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 2577 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ENLARGEMENTS <br />AND AMITIONS TO THE REWOOD CITY SEWAGE TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL FACILITIES; REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RE- <br />CEIVED; AND, AUTHORIZING EXECUTION CF AGREEMENT THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried unan- <br />imously on roll call. <br />FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF INTERIM REPORT BY THE INTER -CITY PENINSULA TRANSIT STUDY COWTTEE. Councilman Weiss <br />briefed the Council on the Inter -City Bus Committee findings, and asked that the Council give consideration <br />to the Committee's request for a proportionate share of cost t6 retain an expert on public transportation <br />Now <br />problems to make a technical report on the transportation problem. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the <br />Committee's report and authorized the Committee to proceed along the lines suggested, seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONSa <br />CITY OF PACIFICA invited the Council to participate in the City of Pacificats first anniversary observance <br />to be held. on November 14th. The Clerk was requested to contact each councilman with regard to this matter. <br />REDWOCD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT called the Council's attention to a truck route which has been est- <br />ablished from Edgewood Road into San Carlos along Scenic Avenue and Clifford Avenue to Eaton Avenue. The <br />Board of Education requested the Council to do all they could to have this route changed for the following <br />reasons: <br />1. It passes along Clifford Avenue directly in front of the Redwood City School Districts Clifford School. <br />2. Clifford Avenue is such a narrow street that it is difficult for cars to pass, let alone trucks. 0041 <br />3. School busses use both Clifford and Scenic Avenue in transporting children to and from school causing WMW <br />even more possibility of danger with trucks also using the streets. <br />4, Many small children walk along these streets in going to school and returning home. Trucks on the <br />streets in addition to the normal traffic create hazards to the children which should be eliminated if <br />possible. <br />The Mayor announced that there would be a meeting Thursday night with the San Mateo County Mayor's Coun- <br />cil and he would take the matter up at that time and then report his findings back to the Council. <br />VERROID J. SMITH request for water connections on Lot 13 and portions of bots 9 and 110 OakHKnoll Manor <br />Subdivision. These lots are adjacent to 2134 Hillcrest Road and contain in excess of 11#000 square feet <br />each. These two lots have been approved by the San Mateo County Building and Health Departments as <br />building sites and the necessary permits will be issued when water is available. The City Manager, in <br />memorandum form, asked if the City Council was going to change its policy in this regard, that he recommend <br />there be a staff study as to how best to accommodate what the Council wants. Councilman Spillers moved to <br />refer this matter to the City Manager accepting his recommendation to have a staff meeting, seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Claims 27134 through 27277, totaling $46*883.21s were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Weymouth, seconded <br />by Councilman Rosselli,and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved, adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2578 AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION CF SURPLUS PROPERTY (fire boat), <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and harried unanimously on roll call. <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded 1V Councilman Rosselli and carried.
