'ZO0 <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />November 3, 1958, 8:00 P.M. <br />Invocation was led by City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, John S. <br />Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Louis Weiss, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. <br />S. Dodge. Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, Police <br />Chief William Faulstich, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, City Engineer <br />Glenn M. Jain, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittel, <br />Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy and Deputy City Clerk Vivian <br />Holmquist. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES CF October 20th. Councilman Weiss asked that the minutes be corrected on Page 2, <br />second paragraph, under public hearing on Wood Acre Knolls, to read as follows: Councilman Weiss <br />asked that if they did not proceed with this project within a reasonable period of time would he, <br />Mr. Dell'Ergo, look with disfavor on the Council acting to rezone the property back to its present <br />rezoning and would he consider such action as being capricious. Councilman Weiss asked that this <br />be inserted into the minutes, and then he moved that the minutes be approved as corrected, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON APPLICATION FOR USED AUTOMOBILE DEALER'S PERMIT, WILLIAM S. PURDUE.. do b. a. BROADWAY <br />MOTORS, 1661 BROADWAY (former Studebaker site ). The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. <br />There being no protests written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved that thepublic hearing be closed, <br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to grant the permit subject to the condition recommended by the staff (con- <br />struction of full width sidewalk between property line and existing curb along the entire frontage), <br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON CLINTON STREET CULVERT IMPROVEMENTS. The affidavits of posting, publication and mailing <br />were ordered filed. There were no written protests. After answering the questions raised on the <br />assessment spread, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Weymouth moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2579 CONFIRMING ASSESSMENTS AND ASSESSMENT DIAGRAM, <br />CLINTON STREET CULVERT IMPROVEMENTS, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried unanimously on roll <br />call. <br />Councilman Herkner moved to accept the improvements subject to correction of any defects in materials <br />and workmanship which might appear within one year, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PETITION CF ALFRED PLAEHN TO AMEND SECTIONS 4.1, 492, 4.3 AND 4.4 Off' ORDINANCE NO. 600 <br />.... TO REZONE FROM R-2 AND C-1 TO C-1 DISTRICT A PORTION OF BLOCK 13, LENOLT - west side of Arugello Street <br />between I'A" Street and Whipple Avenue, 100+ north of Whipple Avenue. The affidavit of mailing was <br />ordered filed. There was a written protest from Harry and Rose Hanson. After hearing the arguments for <br />and against the rezoning, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved to uphold the Planning Commission's recommendation and deny the rezoning, <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adoption of ORDINANCE NO. 600.96 AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 600, THE ZONING ORDINANCE, <br />TO REZONE LOTS 11 TO 13, INCLUSIVE, BLOCK 6, WOOD ACRE KNOLLS, BEING THE NCRTHMT CORNER OF WOODSIDE <br />ROAD AND ALAMEDA DE LAS FULGAS FROM R-3 DISTRICT TO C -1-H DISTRICT, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. <br />After listening to arguments against the Adoption of the ordinance, the motion carried on roll call with <br />
