<br />parkway area with blacktop material. Committee recommends denial of request,

<br />Councilman Weiss moved approval of the Committee's recommendation and the extensions granted as recom-
<br />mended, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />COMMUNICATIONSa
<br />Mrs. Joseph Ghirardo, 3030 Goodwin Avenue, expressed her appreciation to the crew that cleaned up the
<br />creek bed in the back of her property. Alyn Beals, Chairman of the Park and Recreation Commission,
<br />reported that through the efforts on the part of our Park and Recreation directors and the Kiwanis Club
<br />of Redwood City, the following has been done&
<br />Due to a critical shortage of fields and particularly a regulation "Little League Diamond" the
<br />Kiwanis Club of Redwood City would like to present to the City, the facilities needed to create
<br />such a diamond* The area to be used is at the corner of Myrtle and Madision Street, just within
<br />Community Park. The cost of these facilities has been estimated at approximately $2,275* by the
<br />Recreation Director, and the Kiwanis Club of Redwood City has alloca ted $2,500. to cover all
<br />unforseen costs or price changes.
<br />The Park and Recreation Commission would like to recommend to the City Council that these facilities
<br />be accepted by the Council, on behalf of the City and publicly thank the Redwood City Kiwanis Club
<br />for their presentation and their continued interest in the youth and-Lrecreation of our City.
<br />Councilman Granger moved to accept the contribution of the Kiwanis Club and a letter of appreciation be
<br />sent, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried.
<br />Councilman Weymouth moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Meet-
<br />ing adjourned, 10:30 p. m.

<br />Spillers and Louis Weiss were noted absent. Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney
<br />Robert J. Costello, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Police Chief William
<br />Faulstich, Planning Director Dick Wilkinson, Civil Engineering Associate Arthur Eskelin, City Assessor.
