246 APPOINTMENT TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION. Councilman Granger stated that they had several applicants in mind but he moved to nominate Robert Youmans 1525 Maddux Drive, to fill the term left by the resignation of Carl Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll call. Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney prepare a resolution appointing Mr. Youman to the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City to fill the unexpired term of Carl Tiedemann, seconded by Council- man Spillers and carried. COMMUNICATIONS: Claim for alleged damages to Margaret De Gracia and John De Gracia. Councilman Spillers moved that the claim be denied and referred to the City insurance carrier, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. D. ZELINSKY & SONS final payment on painting the City Hall and Library. The Building Inspector recom- mended payment on the balance due on the contract. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the painting job and the final payment be made, seconded bar Councilman Weiss. Councilman Granger asked that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr. Zelinsky. The motion carried. D. ZELINSKY regarding extra cost and increase in cost over what they bid due to the fact that they had to plaster the City Hall. The Mayor asked that the City Manager write a letter to D. Zelinsky & Sons and explain that the City would not pay the extra money over the bid price. WOODSIDE PLAZA MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION extended their thanks to the agencies of the City for their very fine cooperation on making the landing of Santa Claus by helicopter on November 29th an outstanding success. Councilman Spillers moved that the minutes of December 1 and December 8, 1958, be approved as mailed, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. PUBLIC HEARING ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION THAT SECTIONS 4. 1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 of Ord- inance No. 600, the Zoning Plan, be amended to rezone portions of Lots 18, 19 and 20, Johnson Subdivision, from its present designation of "U" (Unclassified) District to an R-1 District. The affidavit of notice was ordered filed. There being no protests written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Councilman Weymouth moved to introduce an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 600 to rezone lots 18, 19, and 20, Johnson Subdivision, from "U" District to R-1 District, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
