PETITION FOR SUBSTANDARD STREET IMPROVEMENTS, GLENWOOD AVENUE FROM CANYON.ROAD TO BREEZE PLACE. It was noted that at the present timethere is a resolution in effect setting minimum street requirements. Councilman Weiss moved that this matter be taken under advisement and a study meeting be held with the people of Glenwood Avenue to discuss this matter, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. PUBLIC HEARING ON PROTEST OF USE PERMIT GRANTED J. E. FARRAR. The notice of mailing was ordered filed. The letters of protest were noted. Elmer Kauk, 334 A Street, Art Lauffenburger, 342 A Street, and Dennis Woodman, representing Harry Weiner, spoke against the granting of the use permit. John E. Farrar and Arnold Rukens, representative of the General Petroleum Corporation, spoke in favor of the use permit. Councilman Spillers moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. Councilman Weymouth moved that the use permit be granted on recommendation of the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Spillers. The motion lost on roll call with Councilmen Spillers and Weymouth voting Yes, Councilmen Herkner, Stout, Weiss and Mayor pro -tem Granger voting No, and Mayor Royer being noted absent. Councilman Weiss moved to overrule the Planning Commission and deny the granting of the use permit, sec- onded by Councilman Stout. The motion carried on roll call with Councilmen Spillers and Weymouth voting Nos Councilmen Herkner, Stout, Weiss and Mayor pro -tem Granger voting Yes and Mayor Royer being noted absent. CITY ATTORNEY REGARDING ABANDONING OF CIRCLE PARK. C airicilman Herkner suggested abandoning the property as a park only, not sell the property. Councilman Spillers moved that they abandon the property as a park. The motion lost for lack of a second. Councilman Spillers moved to refer the matter to the Real Estate Committee for an appraisal of the property, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. CITY ATTORNEY REGARDING PROPOSED SIGN ORDINANCE ON FREEWAY.
