r <br />PARK AND RECREATION COIMSSION RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL CONSIDER WAYS AND MEANS IN 1958-59 BUDGET FOR FUNDS <br />TO BUILD UP SOFT -BALL FIELDS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GROUNDS. Councilman Stout moved to refer this let- <br />ter to the City Manager for a report in two weeks, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />The Mayor complimented L. A. Kimball on his new appointment to the post of City Manager in Walnut Creek. <br />It was decided that they would discuss the matter of the sales tax Wednesday night, February 19th, study <br />meeting. They would discuss Charter amendments at a study meeting Friday 13th. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. Dodge, City�"lerc <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />February 17, 1958, 8:00 P.M. <br />Invocation was lead by Reverend Kenneth Senft, Messiah Lutheran Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Robert V. <br />Spillers, Hiram S. Stout, Louis Weiss, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, City Attorney Robert J. <br />Costello, Assistant Fire Chief Willis Leslie, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Water Superintendent <br />H. L. Winger, Assistant to the City Manager L. A. Kimball, Police Chief William Faulstich, Assessor - <br />Auditor John J. Brophy, Planning Director William Rodgers, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas and Senior <br />Stenographer Glerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Councilman Herkner moved approval of the minutes of February 3rd and 10th as mailed, seconded by Councilman <br />Stout and carried. <br />Councilnyan Stout moved that the public hearing referring to the Whipple Avenue hotel be carried on the agenda <br />until next week, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />Councilman Granger offered CRDWNCE NO. 888 CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY FOIL THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS CF SAID CITY THE MEASURES CF INCURRING BONDED INDEBT- <br />EDNESS CF SAID CITY FOR THE ACQUISITION, CCNSTRUCTION AND COMPLETION OF THE FOLL(NING IMPROVEMENTS, TO <br />WIT: (A.) SANITARY SEffAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, AND (B) PORT IMPROVEMENTS; DECLARING THE ESTI- <br />MATED CCIST OF SAID MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENTS, AND EACH THERECF, THE AMOUNT OF THE PRINCIPAL OF SAID INDEBT- <br />EDNESS TO BE INCURRED THEREFOR, AND THE MAXIMUM RATE CF INTEREST TO BE PAID THEREON; MAKING PROVISION <br />FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION CF TAXES; FIRING THE DATE OF SAID ELECTION, THE MANNER OF HOLDING THE SAME, <br />PROVIDING FOR NOTICE THERECF, AND CONSOLIDATING SAID SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION WITH THE GENERAL <br />rr-- MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HEIR ON APRIL 8, 1958s and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Herkner <br />and carried on roll call. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the record show that Councilman Weiss is against the Port Bonds by reason <br />of the amount, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE REDUCING TIME CF APPEAL ON SIDEffALK ORDINANCE. The Mayor asked that this be carried over <br />for another week. <br />LETTER. FRIM PCRT COMMISSIONERS REGARDING PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT. The Part Com dssioners asked that con- <br />sideration be .given to amending the City Charter so as to permit the Port Manager to lease port property <br />on a month to month basis in accordance with.provisions and rates adopted by the Board and set forth in <br />the port tariff without the necessity of Board approval or public bidding. The Clerk was asked to <br />notify the Port officials that this has been considered and changed from Port Manager to Port Commission <br />ire and that is the way it will appear on the April ballot. <br />
