13 <br />Minutes of the Regular Adjourned Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />February 244 19589 8:00'P.M. <br />P <br />Invocation was lead by Reverend Kenneth Senft, Messiah Lutheran Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL is following were noted present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Robert V. <br />Spillers, Hiram S. Stout, Louis Weiss, Ray Weymouth, Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, City Attorney Robert J. <br />Costello, Police Chief William Faulstich, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, <br />Assistant to the City Manager L. A. Kimball, Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Planning Director <br />William Rodgers, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Planning Commissioner Vincent Rambo and Senior Sten- <br />ographer <br />tem <br />ographer Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION TO AMEND ORDINANCE N0. 600 BY REZONING A PORTION OF LOT <br />14s BLOCK E, WOODSIDE ACRES NO. 1 FROM R-2 to R-3. The notice of mailing was ordered filed. There <br />being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, second- <br />ed <br />econd <br />ed by Councilman Stout and carried. Councilman Weiss moved that the Planning Commission's recommendation <br />be denied, seconded by Councilman Stout. The motion lost on roll call with Councilmen Stout and Weiss <br />voting Yes and Councilmen Granger, Herkner, Spillers, Weymouth and Mayor Rayer voting No. <br />Councilman Spillers moved approval of the Planning Commissionts recommendations seconded by Councilman <br />Weymouth and carried on roll calls Councilman Weiss voting No. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON APPEAL TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION GRANTING USE PERMIT TO LINK AND SCHELLACI FOR A MOTEL AT <br />811 WHIPPLE AVENUE. The affidavit of publication and notice of mailing were ordered filed. The.pet- <br />ition of appeal, post cards and letters protesting the granting of the use permit were noted. After <br />considerable discussion, Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by <br />Councilman Herkner and carried. Councilman Spillers moved that the use permit be granted, the restrict- <br />ions to be upheld, and the type, size, etc. of sign to be approved by the Planning Commission, seconded <br />by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call, Councilmen Granger and Stout voting No. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ANNEXATION OF UNINHABITED PROPERTY DESIGNATED AS "WHIPPLE AVENUE TERRITORY". The affi- <br />davit of publication was ordered filed. There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Spillers <br />moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Councilman Stout <br />offered RESOLUTION 2392 BEING A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FINDING AND <br />DETERMINING THAT PROTEST TO THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED <br />TERRITORY DESIGNATED "WHIPPLE AVENUE" HAS NOT BEEN MADE BY OSS OF ONE-HALF OF THE VALUE OF SUCH TE&. <br />RITCRY AS SHOWN BY THE LAST EQUALIZED ASSESSMENT ROLL, NCR BY PUBLIC AND PRIVATE OWNERS EQUAL TO ONE- <br />HALF OF THE VALUE OF SUCH TERRITORY and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried <br />,► unanimously on roll call. <br />Councilman Herkner offered introduction of an ordinance approving the annexation to the City of Redwood <br />City of certain uninhabited territory designated Mndpple Avenue"s describing said territory, and an- <br />nexing said territory to said City of Redwood City, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />PERSONAL APPEARANCE, MR. HAMS, REPRESENTING THE EAGLES LODGE, asked permission to hold an Easter Egg Hunt <br />this year at the Recreation Center. Councilman Stout moved approval of the project to be put on by <br />the Ea less seconded by Councilmn Weymouth and carried. <br />PROGRESS REPORT ON PARKING IAT NO. 3. Mr. C. Be Currie reported that he was prepared to file an answer with <br />regard to the Arguello heirs portion of the property concerned in the creek. 2/3 of the creek is <br />owned by The Arguello heirs and 1/3 by the Mezes heirs. Mr. Currie will submit a full written report <br />by the 10th of March as'to the standing of the City at that time. <br />
