0 <br />157 <br />Councilman Weiss moved that the matter be referred to the Planning Commission for study and a report <br />within 45 days, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Stout moved that the Planning Commission be requested to withhold any repetitious action <br />such as in Item #8 on the Planning Commission's agenda until the report is made available to the <br />Comneil, seconded by Councilman Weiss. The City Attorney sta ted that it was impossible for the <br />Planning Commission to withhold action on the matter unless the ordinance is changed. The motion <br />lost on roll call with Councilmen Granger, Herkner, Weymouth and Royer voting no, Councilmen Stout <br />and Weiss voting yes and Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />Councilman Weiss referred to an article appearing in the April 2nd issue of the Tribune with regard to the <br />Motor Vehicle site of Whipple Avenue being converted into a gas station site. He suggested the matter <br />be investigated with regard to abatement of the Motor Vehicle building. Councilman Granger anno.inced <br />that the Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a suitable site so they can remain in Redwood City. <br />Claims 25356 through 25470, totaling $86,974411, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Stout, seconded <br />by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />CITY MANAGER REQUEST THAT A RIGHT—OF—WAY AGENT BE EMPLOYED TO NEGOTIATE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY <br />NECESSARY FOR THE WIDENING AND IMPROVEMENT OF JEFFERSON AVENUE BETWEEN HIGHLAND AVENUE AND FARM HILL <br />BOULEVARD. Councilman Stout moved to refer the matter to the City Engineer for proper action and <br />procedure, seconded by Councilman Granger. Councilman Herkner amended the motion that the City Manager <br />investigate and refer the matter back to the Council for final decision, seconded by Councilman Weiss <br />and carried, Councilman Granger voting no. <br />LETTER FROM THE CHAMBER (' COMMERCE REQUESTING THAT HAMILTON STREET BETWEEN BROADWAY AND THEATER STREET BE <br />CLOSED OFF DURING APRIL 18th AND 19th when the Downtown Merchants Division of the Redwood City Chamber <br />of Commerce is planning to co—sponsor a Boat Show with the Redwood City Tribune. Councilman Weiss <br />moved that the request be granted to the closing of Hamilton Street between Theater and Broadway sub— <br />ject to parking restrictions., seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Weymouth moved that the meeting be adjourned to April 14th at 8:00 p.m., seconded by Councilman <br />'Herkner and carried.
