Councilman Stout moved that Ted Thompson, Ottis Carrington and Clifton Woodhams be reappointed for a 2 year term <br />to the Veterans Memorial Commission, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. The replacement for Jim <br />Hedge will be made at the next meeting. <br />Councilman Granger asked for a report on the statue in Union Cemetery. The City Manager reported that he finally <br />received word from the State that they are checking into the matter and will let him know the outcome as soon <br />as possible. <br />Claims 24489 through 24637, totaling $92,762.08, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded <br />by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Stout asked that consideration be given to building a Youth Center at the present site of the old <br />Veterans Building and he suggested the name of Mezes Youth Building or Mezes Youth Center, <br />Councilman Weymouth moved that the meeting be adjourned to January 13th at the hour of 8:00 P.M., seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers and carried. Councilman Stout moved that <br />this matter be carried on the agenda for one additional week, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. <br />CITY MANAGER PROGRESS REPORT ON CIVIL DEFENSE. Councilman Herkner moved to accept the report, seconded by <br />Councilman Weiss and carried. The report is on file in the office of the City Clerk under file 17. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY — CIVIL DEFENSE. <br />Councilman Stout made a committee report on the Business and License Ordinance. The committee is meeting and <br />they are functioning. <br />APPOINTAENT OF MEMBER TO VETERANS MEMORIAL C0MKISSION. Councilman Granger offered the name of Fred Priest <br />and he moved his appointment to the Veterans Memorial Commission, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and <br />carried. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that Dean Townsend and Harry Day be reappointed to a six year term on the Personnel <br />Board, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. Councilman Weiss moved that his statement that the Pers— <br />Board is doing an outstanding job and should be commended be included in the minutes, seconded by Council— <br />man Stout and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN WEISS REQUESTING RECONSIDERATION OF ACTION TO COMPROMISE PAYMENT ON DELINQUENT TAXES REQUESTED BY <br />ATTORNEY DABA. Councilman Weiss moved that the Council action of January 6th be held in abeyance and the <br />
