Councilman Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to grant the petition and instruct the City Attorney to prepare ordinance <br />rezoning the property from R-3 to C -1-H, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. This was followed by Council <br />discussion after which the motion carried on roll call with Councilmen Herkner and Weiss voting no. <br />Councilman Weiss moved that the Building Inspector be instructed to investigate the premises to see <br />whether or not the ordinance covering renovations has been complied with and report back to the Council.., <br />seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Weise moved that they request the Manning Commission to investigate the zoning in this <br />�... area as to the possibility of R -3-G use to provide less density and thus protect the R-2 and R-1 area, <br />seconded by Councilman Granger. After some discussion, Councilman Weiss changed his motion that the <br />Planning Commission be requested to resurvey the area now proposed as R-4 and the land use plan along <br />Woodside Road east of Alameda De las Pulgas and that the proposed use and the most logical or a lesser <br />density zoning be considered, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />The City Manager and City Attorney were asked to keep a check on the proposed building and see that <br />they complied with the statements made at the public hearing - one of the statements being that the <br />present bar and building are to be torn down. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON GOLDEN K. JONES APPFAL FROM PLANNING COMMISSION DENIAL CF APPLICATION FOR A VARIANCE TO <br />ALLOW A 71 REAR YARD SETBACK INSTEAD OF THE REQUIRED 15 FEET AT LOT 73, BLACK 9, EAGLE HILL SUBDIVISION, <br />ALSO KNONN AS 251 JACKSON STREET. The affidavit of mailing was ordered filed. The Clerk read the <br />letter of appeal, after which Mr. Jones addressed the Council. Councilman Spillers moved that the pub - <br />lie hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to grant the variance requested and direct City Attorney to prepare the nec- <br />essary resolution with condition that garage be torn doom, that 151 distance be maintained between <br />buildings and existing building be brought up to standard, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried <br />Councilmen Herkner and Weiss voting No. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT ON BID OPENING, CLINTON STREET CULVERT. The City Engineer stated that the bids were <br />correct and the loon bidder was E. T. Haas, in the amount of $12,740.70. The Engineer's estimate was <br />$9,705.00. However, in view of the fact that three bids were within 10% of each other, Mr': Jain re- <br />commended that the low bid be awarded. Councilman Spillers mored adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 2498 <br />AWARDING CONTRACT, CLINTON STREET CULVERT, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried unanimously on <br />roll call. <br />SIDEffALK COMMITTEE REPORT CF JUNE 2, 1958 COUNCIL MEETING. Two items were held for further consideration: <br />Notice No. 563; Portion of Lot 17, Mezesville Villa Lots, less strip in Highway, owner - American Legion <br />Post #105. Councilman Spillers moved to grant revocable exception to the ordinance, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Rosselli and carried. <br />(Minute Order) <br />Notice No. 879; Rectangular SW portion of Block 32 Range A, )bzesville, 130.240 on Hamilton, 50' on <br />Theatre Street by 50t in depth. This is the property of Dr. Ralph Howe and is occupied by Gust Service <br />Station. Councilman Rosselli moved to grant a 30 day extension in order to give the owner time to meet <br />with the City Manager to discuss the matter, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried, Councilman <br />Weiss voting No. It was suggested that Dr. Howe and the City Manager also meet with the Council Committee <br />on this matter. <br />Councilman Spillers was excused from the meeting at 10:20 p.m. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of ORDINANCE NO., 904 OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING THE F INAL <br />BUDGET CF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JUIY 1, 1958 -JUNE 30, 1959; PROVIDING FOR THE <br />
