Councilman Weiss objected <br />to this type of action and moved that his remarkes be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Council- <br />Rossellip The motion lost on roll call with Councilmen Herkner, Spillers, Weymouth and Mayor Royer <br />voting No, Councilmen Rosselli and Weiss voting Yes, and Councilman Granger being noted absent. <br />Councilman Weymouth moved to authorize the City Clerk to accept the deed, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br />and carried on roll call, Councilman Weiss voting no and Councilman Granger being noted absent. <br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, REQUESTS CANCELLATION OF TAXES ON CERTAIN PROPERTY PURCHASED BY <br />STATE FOR BAYSHORE FREEWAY RIGHT -CF -TAY. (Portion of J. 0. Archibald Property) Councilman Herkner <br />moved to cancel taxes on said freeway property, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried. (Minute Order) <br />REQUEST FOR WATER CONNECTION TO SERVE PROPERTY DESCRIBED AS LOT !n, RESUB OF LOT 6, BLOCK 212 OAK KNOLL MANOR , <br />on Hillcrest Drive near the Sequoia Reservoir site. Request is from Mr. William G. Frias of 622 Chest- <br />nut Street. After some discussion and in keeping with the present policy, Councilman Weymouth moved <br />that the request be denied, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />PETITICN FOR IMPROVEMENTS ON GLENWOOD AVENUE, BAIN PLACE, BREEZE PLACE AND VICINITY. Petitioners request <br />new standards for street improvements; improvements to be of lesser width and otherwise below stan- <br />dards set up generally for City street construction; construction to be less than standard requirements <br />of curb and gutter; standard cast iron mains and fire hydrants the cost of which the Water Department <br />is to meet one-half of the expense and the property owners to assume the cost of the remaining one-half. <br />City Engineer recommends standa rd improvements. Councilman Weymouth moved to carry this on the agenda <br />for two weeks and the City Manager to call a meeting of the Council to discuss the matter, seconded by <br />Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR REPORT ON "PAT HIGGIN'S BIT OIERIN". Building Inspector Kreiss reported that no changes <br />in the building construction were observed other than general clean-up, painting, and new furnishings <br />for which no permits are required. Councilman Spillers moved that the Building Inspector's report be <br />accepted and filed, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. (City Clerk's fiel - 1. BUILDING <br />INSPECTOR) <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />LCdr. William son, Commanding Officer USS RATON, sent a placque to the mayor for the hospitality shown <br />to the creq and officers of his ship during their stay at the Part over the holiday week -end. The City <br />Manager was asked to write an appropriate letter of thanks. <br />STANDARD OIL COMPANY requested that approval be given for the replacement of a leaking 550 gallon under- <br />ground tank under the sidewalk at the corner of Main and Maple Streets. Councilman Weiss moved to con- <br />tinue the matter for one week, the City Manager to make a report and recommendations seconded by Council- <br />man Herkner and carried. <br />American Trust Company, First Western Bank and Wells Fargo Bank notified the City that the inactive <br />fund agfzeements will be cancelled on September 29th. Prior to the termination date they will review <br />the level and trend of money rates and prepare and submit to the City a new agreement at a rate of int - <br />be <br />erest which will tually acceptable.
