ion <br />Councilman Wey.�outh moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2518 FIXING THE MINIMUM WAGE SCALE, DUANE STREET CUL,: <br />VERT IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call, Councilman Rosselli <br />being noted absent. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2519 CALLING FOR BIDS, DUANE STREET IMPROVMVSNT DISTRICT, <br />seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on r. oll call, Councilman Rosselli being noted absent. <br />Councilman Rosselli a2peared at the meting at 8:38 P. m, <br />ADOPT ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 600, THE ZONING ORDINANCE, TO REZONE LOTS 11 TO 13 INCLUSIVE, BLOCK 6, <br />WOCDACRE KNOLLS, BEING THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF WOODSIDE ROAD AND ALAAEDA DE LAS PULGAS FROM R-3 DISTRICT TO <br />C -1-H DISTRICT. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. Councilman Granger stated that after think- <br />ing the matter over, it was his opinion that although they have the legal pourer to adopt this ordinance, <br />two <br />there nevertheless appears to be a technical defect in the original petition. Under these circumstances it <br />was his opinion that the petition should be -rejected because of the procedural error, and the matter should <br />be reinstated in a manner that will leave no doubt in anyone's mind as to the validity of the proceedings, <br />.rhether the ultimate decision is to rezone the property or not. Councilman Granger moved that this ordin- <br />ance not be adopted and that the petition presently on file be denied because of a procedural error in the <br />original application, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney be directed to prepare a resolution of intention of the <br />City Council to rezone this property from R-3 District to C -1-H District, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br />and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved adoption of ORDINANCE NO. 600.93 AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 600 TO REZONE AREA ON SOUTH <br />SIDE OF MARSHALL STREET BETWEEN MAPLE AND CHESTNUT STREETS FROM C -3-F TO C -3 -F -H DISTRICT, seconded by <br />Councilman Weymouth andcarried unanimously on roll_ call. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. <br />REQUEST OF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE COMMITTEE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 301 , REGULATING THE SALE OF MEAT. Councilman <br />Spillers moved to instruct the City Attorney to prepare the necessary ordinance and they hold a public <br />hearing in three weeks, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Spillers asked that the City Manager <br />and City Attorney meet with the Chamber of Cor-,nerce and meat merchants. After some discussion, Councilman <br />Spillers withdrew his motion. <br />Councilman Hosselli moved to refer the matter back to the Chamber of Commerce for them to hold a meeting <br />with the merchants and then resubmit their findings to the Council, seconded by Councilman Spillers. This <br />was followed by discussion after which 6ounciliran Herkner moved to amend the motion to set the matter for <br />public hearing in three weeks, August 11th, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the proper authorities furnish the Council with a copy of the original ordin- <br />ance (No. 304) and a copy of the original motion, seconddd by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Downtown Merchants extended their thanks to the employees of the City that cooperated to make "Sidewalk <br />Days" the most successful retail pormotion in Redwood City's history. Specifically mentioned were the <br />Police, Fire, Park and Recreation Departments for their invaluable assistance. Councilman Rosselli moved <br />that the letter be filed and a copy of the letter be sent to the Department Heads effected, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />F <br />City of South San Francisco urged support of each of the cities within the county in assisting the sending <br />of the Burlingame High School String Orchestra to the World's Fair in Brussels. Councilman Granger moved <br />to refer this to the Chamber of Commerce. This motion lost for lack of a second. Councilman Rosselli f <br />moved to indorse the program and offered RESOLUTION NO. 2520 URGING PUBLIC SUPPORT TO SENDING THE BURLINGAME <br />HIGH SCHOOL STRING ORCHESTRA TO THE WORLD'S FAIR AT BRUSSELS, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried un- <br />animously on roll call. <br />
