The hearing date has been set for September 15, 1958. The <br />Mayor authorized acceptance of the petition and report and certification of City Clerk and County Registrar <br />of Voters on sufficiency of petition. Councilman Granger moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 2540 BEING A RESOL— <br />UTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CZTY OF REDWOOD CITY DECLARIM ITS INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION IN CER— <br />TAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY AND PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED THERETO, FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN SAID TERRITORY THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT SAID TERRITORY <br />SHALL BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY; DESCRIBING SPECIFICALLY THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID TERRITORY, AND DESIGNATING IT <br />BY THE NAME OF "HIGHLANDS TERRITORY NO. 7" BY WHICH IT SHALL BE REFERRED TO UPON THE BALLOTS USED AT SAID <br />ELECTION; AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE DAY, HOUR AND PLACE ANY PERSON OWNING REAL PROPERTY WITHIN SAID TERRITORY <br />MAY APPEAR BEFORE SAID COUNCIL AND SHOW CAUSE WHY SUCH TERRITORY SHOULD NOT BE SO ANNEXED, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Rosselli and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. w <br />Councilman Herkner moved to ;,ntroduce an ordinance repealing Section 1 of Ordinance No. 304 regulating the sale <br />and distribution of uncured, uncooked meats in the City of Redwood City to remove from said ordinance any <br />regulation of the hours of business when such meats may be sold or delivered, seconded by Councilman Weiss. <br />After some discussion the motion was *i.thdrawn. <br />The Mayor read the following letter from the Health Department: <br />It is extremely difficult to associate why there is any connection between health, welfare and <br />safety in the sale hdurs of meat, as the only factors governing wholesomeness and safety of <br />meat are proper controls during slaughtering, storage, transportation, handling and display of <br />the fresh meat product. <br />As long as proper sanitation controls, including refrigeration, are provided, during the above <br />mentioned stages, the meat must be considered just as safe for human consumption whether it was <br />purchased during any control hours, such as 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or whether or not the meat <br />was actually, sold on holidays, Sundays or at midnight. <br />If proper inspection by qualified meat inspectors is carried out at the slaughtering house, and <br />proper consideration is given to the storage, transportation, handling and display of the meat <br />products to assure compliance with present day accepted standards of refrigeration and sanitation, <br />then there should be no danger std the health and safety of the public, should the fresh meat be <br />sold at any hour of the day. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the above letter be made a part of the record, seconded by Councilman Spillers <br />and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved to introduce the ordinance, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on roll call <br />with Councilman Rosselli and Spillers voting no and Councilman Weymouth being noted absent. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION N0. 2541 AUTHORIZING ABANDONMENT OF ANCHOR EASEMENT LOT 2 <br />� a 7� <br />BLOCK 13, FARM HILL NO. 2, seconded by Councilman Weiss and carried on roll call, Councilman Weymouth being <br />noted absent. <br />Claims 26585 through 26720, totaling $65,034.26, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Rosselli, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the meeting be adjourned to next Mornay night, August 25th, at the hour of 8:00 <br />
