X17 <br />and Councilman Spillers being noted absent. <br />Councilman Feiss moved to introduce an ordinance fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation upon <br />the taxable property within the City of Redwood City as revenue to carry on the various departments <br />of said City for the fiscal year 1958-59, to pay the bonded indebtedness of said City falling due and <br />becoming payable during said fiscal year together with the interest thereons to maintain the public <br />library of said city during said fiscal year., to provide funds for the retirement plan., and to provide <br />for capital improvements; and fixing and levying the tax rate therefore seconded by Councilman Herkner <br />and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the City Manager come in with a statement showing the tax rates for the <br />last 8 years. This motion lost for lack of a second. The Mayor informed the Councilmen that anyone <br />who wanted a copy of the tax rates for the last few years could -contact the City Manager. <br />FURTHER. CONSIDERATION ON THE PROPOSED CUL-DE-SAC STREET IN "MARSHALL SQUARE". Charles Randlett, engineer <br />for Mr. Draper, appeared and answered some questions raised by different councilmen. Councilman Weiss <br />moved that the Planning Commissions recommendation be adjered to but that the agreement contain a <br />clause that when and if this area is subdivided that there be a maximum of 5 lots,, including the pre- <br />sent proposed site, on the dul-de-sae. This motion lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Weymouth moved approval of the request without stating the maximum number of lots and sub- <br />ject to agreement to install street in accordance with City specifications., fire hydrant and faithful <br />performance bond. Councilman Weiss moved to table the matter for one week. Both motions were declared <br />out of order because they did not receive,a second. The Mayor called for a roll call vote to determine <br />whether or not they would act on the matter tonight or continue the question until next week as prev- <br />iously moved earlier in the evening. The Council voted four to two (Councilman Weymouth and Mayor <br />Royer voting no) to continue the ma tter one week. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the City Attorney get an opinion from the Attorney General as to the value <br />of the 3 mill tax law. The City Attorney explained that the Attorney General would not make any rulings <br />on City Government. The motion lost for lack of a second. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the meeting be adjourned to Tuesdayp September 2, at the hour of 8:00 p.m.s <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. Neal, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Assistant City <br />Attorney Axel Christiansen., Planning Director William Rodgers., Police Captain Theodore Moudakas, Fire <br />Chief J. L. Lodix Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Water Superintendent <br />H. L. Winter, Planning Commissioner Vincent Rambo and Deputy Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved approval of the minutes of August 18th and 25th as mailedp seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried. <br />
