After discussion, Councilman <br />Spillers changed his motion and moved that the City Attorney prepare the necessary resolution that a cond- <br />ition be made that they only be allowed to operate with private club liquor license (MINUTE ORDER #59-162), <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call with Councilmen Granger, Herkner, Spillers and <br />Weymouth voting yes and Councilmen Fields, -Rosselli and Mayor Royer voting no. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON BROADWAY LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS. The public hearing was declared open. Dorothy Roberts, Stars <br />of Tomorrow, was in the audience with two youngsters to present trophies to the City so Councilman Rosselli <br />moved to continue the public hearing until 9:53 pe m., seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />Dorothy Roberts presented trophies 68 and 69 which the Stars of Tomorrow won in San Francisco and Santa Clara <br />parades. Miss Roberts asked that consideration be given by the Council to the purchasing or building of <br />a trophy case in order that the trophies may be placed on display. The Mayor explained that the Recreation <br />Director had been asked to look into the matter and would come in soon with a recommendation as to where the <br />case could be put on display. <br />E <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON BROADWAY LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS. The public hearing was again declared open and the affidavits <br />of posting and publication were ordered filed. The Clerk announced that the petitions had been returned and <br />and were now a part of the file. A question was raised as to whether or not they had secured the necessary <br />50% 50% of the property owners. Mitch Webber stated that he had the promise of one additional signature on <br />Tuesday which mould be enough to give the 50%. The American Trust Company and California Pacific Title <br />Insurance Company have stated that they would sign the petition when they reached the 50% mark or if nec- <br />essary Cal. Paco would sign the petition in order to obtain the necessary 50% to go forward with the pro- <br />ject. Councilman Spillers moved to continue the matter for one week (MINUTE ORDER #59-163), seconded by <br />Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved intorduetion of an ordinance calling for election be fore City adopts a local sales <br />tax, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Granger asked that they defer action at this time until <br />they have a report from the Six Year Committee. This was followed by discussion after which the motion <br />lost on roll call with Councilmen Fields, Granger, Weymouth and Mayor Royer voting no and Councilmen <br />Herkner, Rosselli and Spillers voting yes. <br />REQUEST FOR ACCEPTANCE OF SPBOIFICATIONS FOR AUTOMOTIVE EQUIPMENT AND PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS. It <br />was the opinion of the Council that they would only ask for bids at this time on two police cars, the other <br />equipment to be checked into further and the mechanic to check the cars and see which ones were in bad <br />shape. Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2887 APPROVING SPa;IFICATTONS FOR TWO NEW <br />POLICE CARS; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Fields and <br />carried unanimously on roll call* <br />Councilman Weymouth moved that the rest of the list be carried on the agenda for one week for additional <br />information (MINUTE ORDER #59-164), seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />ABANDON EASEMENT IN ANAMOR PARK. Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RES OLUT ION NO. 2888 BEING THE RESOLUTION <br />OF INTENTION TO VACATE A PUBLIC SERVICE EASEMENT, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried unanimously on <br />roll call. Referred to Planning Commission. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF ALAMIDA DE LAS PULGAS RESURFACING PROJECT. Councilman Herkner moved to accept the project subject <br />i <br />to the guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship which migh appear within one year from date <br />of acceptance (MINUTE CR.DER #59-165), seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried. <br />CLAIM FOR DAMAGES, RICHARD W. & RUTH B. DANIELS for alleged property damage and personal injuries as a result of <br />an automobile accident which occureed on Main Street near the intersection of Chestnut Street on August 22, <br />1959.
