.35 <br />Dr. Alvin Meyer addressed a letter to the Council inquiring asto whether or not the Council was going to consider <br />the fluoridation issue in the coming election. Councilman Spillers moved that the letter be placed,on the <br />agenda for two weeks from tonight, November 9th (MINUTE ORDER #59-168), seconded by Councilman Weymouth and <br />carried. <br />County Manager, regarding the Bradley -Burns Uniform Sales Tax, requested the Council to send a designated <br />representative to a meeting on Thursday, November 5, at 8:00 p. m., in the Chambers of the Board of Super- <br />. ..,.� <br />visors. Councilman Weymouth moved that the Mayor be the official representative and take the stand of 5% <br />as previously agreed (MINUTE ORDER #59-169), seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />Councilman Fields moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2890 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER'TO EXECUTE AGREEMENT FOR <br />RELOCATION OF PUBLIC UTILITY FACILITIES (construction work on Jefferson Avenue), seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried unanimously on roll call. <br />Prior to approval of claims, it was pointed out that among the claims submitted for approval was the final pay- <br />ment to Oscar C. Holmes, Inc. on Sequoia Reservoir project. It was also pointed out that insofar as the <br />staff is presently in a position to determine it appears that the contractor has completed his obligations <br />under the contract. It was also pointed out however, that an investigation is currently underway concern- <br />ing deflection and cracking problems in the roof. <br />Letters were read from the Contractorts bonding company and -the contractor indicating that payment at this <br />time did not constitute a waiver of any rights the City might have on either the bond or the contract. The <br />final paragraph of the agenda fact sheet for this meeting was amended in accordance with the above state- <br />ments made at the meeting. Fact sheet statement was ordered deleted. <br />Claims 30634 through 30821, totaling $144305.73, plus the claim in the amount of $32,236.12 to Oscar <br />Holmes, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Weymouth, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. ..� <br />Councilman Granger suggested the possibility of acquiring from the Southern Pacific Company one of their retired <br />steam locomotives to be installed in playground, suggesting possibility of Chestnut Street and Middlefield <br />Road site. He suggested further the possibility of contacting Louis Chess, former official of the S. P. <br />Company. Councilman Spillers moved that this matter be referred to the City Manager -to make the necessary <br />inquiries (MINUTE ORDER #59-1704, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Granger also suggested that the City Manager chedc into the condition of the S. P. parking lot. <br />Possibly the City might furnish and spread rock and repair the bumper strips. Councilman Rosselli moved <br />that the matter be referred to the City Manager, suggesting also that he include the area formerly occupied <br />by the Standard Oil Company (MINUTE ORDER #59-171), seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved adoption of RESOLUTION IN MEMORIUM of ZEPH TH ORNING, former City Councilman, copy of <br />resolution to be forwarded to Mrs. Thorning, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried.
