Council- <br />man Weymouth moved to set the matter for public hearing on November 23rd (MINUTE ORDER #59-178), sec- <br />onded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Planning Commission resolution recommend ng amendment to Ordinance No. 600, being the Zoning Plan of the City <br />of Redwood City, to rezone all of Lots 1 and 3 of Block B, Woodside Acres Subdivision from R-2 District <br />to R -3-G District. Council man Spillers moved to set the matter for public hearing on November 23rd <br />(MINUTE ORDER #59-178), seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />REQUEST AUTHORIZIATION TO REVISE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR PORTION OF PARKING DISTRICT NO. 1, PARKING LOT <br />NO. VI, for that area between Main Street and Jefferson Avenue to and including the Marshall Street <br />Bridge. Councilman Spillers moved to authorize the City Engineer to prepare amended plans and speci- <br />fications for construction of portion-cf Parking Lot VI Ord parking lot), seconded by Councilman <br />Granger (MINUTE ORDER #59-180). Councilman Fields raised the question as to whether or not they should <br />proceed with the parking lot when the city is cognizant of the fact that there will be a shortage of <br />funds to pay the bonds after 1970. The City Manager was asked to check with Attorney Wilson to find <br />out -if this was the proper procedure. The motion carried on roll call with Councilmen Granger, Herkner, <br />s <br />Rosselli, Spillers, Weymouth and Mayan Royer voting yes and Councilman Fields voting no. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />A. F. Kennedy, Commanding Officer, U. S. S. Sea Fax SS 4027 expressed his thanks for the hospitality <br />extended Sea Fax during their recent visit to Redwood City. -The City Manager was asked to send a copy <br />of the letter to the Port and Chamber of Commerce. <br />People in the audience who were interested in their petition appealing the granting of a variance to <br />Tom Cunningham for the construction of a five unit apartment house on substandard lot containing ap- <br />proximately 5,000 feet on Lot 6, Block B, Boyd & Kentfs Addition. Councilman Herkner moved to set the <br />matter for public hear.Lng on December 14th (MINUTE ORDER #59-181), seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />San Mateo County _Club of Adult Blind requested that a permit be issued -for their annual boxed candy <br />sale which will take place from November 2nd to November 25th. This was referred to the City Manager <br />for action. <br />i <br />Reuel A. Myers asked permission to discuss the matter of negotiations with the County Supervisors on <br />the Sales Tax. Mr, Myers addressed the Council and stated that he was opposed to any split with the <br />County on City sales tax. He was opposed to a sales tax of any kind and further stated that he did <br />not want the County to get any Redwood City sales tax. <br />R. J. Collett, 140 Iris Street, objected to a sales tax of any kind unless the Council could show <br />a good reason why the sales tax should be levied. He was of the opinion that he would rather have his <br />property tax taised.rather than have the sales tax. <br />George Parker, 3692 Brandy Rock Way, was of the opinion that land taxes should be increased and lower <br />the taxes on improvements and personal property. He was of the opinion that land taxes should be in- <br />creased and taxes on labor lowered.- <br />
