37
Ferris Miles announced that there would be a question and answer period. Immediately following this, Mr.
Miles summarized the reports as follows:
The projects and amounts in the following recommendations have been culled from a list of projects
which totals approximately $4.0,000,000, all of which came under consideration as needed capital
improvements. This means that only $90280,750 out of a possible $40,0002000 is being recommended
and that the committee has been hard headed in eliminating so many projects that seem important
never -the -less. Of this grant total only $4,365,000 needs to be financed by bond issue.
We propose that you finance the above mentioned projects in the following manner:
WATER, SEWER AND DRAINAGE:
Water $260075•
Increase water rate .025¢ per 100 cu. ft.
Sewer Revenue bonds $2802000.
(the above water and searer program will be self liquidating.)
Drainage $4.,375,000.
Redwood City portion of the Drainage Basin
County Assessment District
These three above items will not be paid from any future sales tax revenue, but will be paid from
their own financing programs.
PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND FACILITILS:
Auditorium and/or Convention Hall
Amount and financing not yet determined but
subject to our investigation recommended in
this report.
Park Department Corporation Yard
Library lift for books
City Corporation Yard
City Hall enlargement (max.)
Furnishings for City Hall
PARKS AND RECREATION;
Detail as submitted in Committee Report
STREETS AND OVERPASSES:
Sprace Street - Five Points Overpass
Jefferson Avenue widening
Middlefield Road widening
Alameda widening
Extension of Industrial Way
Bridges and culverts as per schedule
$135,000.
20,000.
85,000.
$577,000.
$1,0002000.
617,000.
470,000.
850,000,
90,000,
296,000.
Bridge and culvert widening 50,000.
$2073,000.
GRAND TOTAL - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $9,280,750o
It was finally recommeded by our committee that the above projects in Public Buildings and Facilities,
Parks and Recreation, and Streets and Overpasses, none of which have a self-liquidating program to pay
them, be financed by general obligation bonds to be liquidated by a one per -cent retail sales tax.
Our committee recommends that the following issues be placed on the ballot for the decision of the
electorate:
1. Public Buildings and Facilities
2. Parks and Recreation
3. Five Points (Spruce Street) overpass
4. Streets and Bridges and Culverts
Total
$ 415,000.
577,000.
1,000,000.
2,373,000.
$4,365,000.
W
ig
"Pn
