Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2944 OPPOSING FEDERAL TAXATION OF INTEREST PAID UPON MUNICIPAL OBLIGATIONS AND UPON MUNICIPAL INCOME, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried unanimously on roll call, Mayor Royer being noted absent. Councilman Fields moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO, 2945 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT FOR CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES,, SEQUOIA RESERVOIR PROJECT, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried unanimously on roll call, Mayor Royer being noted absent. Letter from Leroy Simpson, 2719 Whipple Avenue, thanking the City for the cleanup job done in Circle Park, Mrs. Louis Knafla, 812 Canyon Road, asked for a variance to Ordinance No. 639 which would permit them to utilize their garages and allow them a 33 foot driveway approach instead of the required 23 feet. It was r recommended that this be allowed. Councilman Spillers moved to grant the exception to the sidewalk and driveway ordinance as requested (MINUTE ORDER #59-240)9 seconded by Councilman Fields and carried. Councilman Granger nominated Gerald Tuxford to the Veterans Memorial Commission, seconded by Councilman Weymouth. Councilman Fields amended the motion to carry -this item on the agenda for one week, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. The amendment lost on roll call with Councilmen Fields and Rosselli voting yes, Councilmen Granger,S pilfers, Weymouth and Mayor pro -tem Herkner voting no and Mayor Royer being noted absent. The original motion carried on roll cell with Councilmen Granger, Rosselli, Spillers, Weymouth and Mayor pro - tem Herkner voting yes, Councilman Fields voting no on the principle, and Mayor Royer being noted absent. (MINUTE ORDER #59-241) ' Councilman Granger suggested that the Department Heads look into the possibility of checking into the size of cards used to post property and suggested a quarter,size card be used. Councilman Granger moved that the matter be referred to the City Manager, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #59-242)% , Councilman Granger moved that the rest home problem be referred to the City Manager for investigation on the issuing of applications to rest homes (MINUTE CIDER #59-243), seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried on roll call, Councilmen Fields, Granger, Rosselli, Weymouth and Mayor pro -tem Herkner 'voting yes, Council- man Spillers voting no and Mayor Royer being noted absent. Claims 31211 through 31355, totaling $146,103.94, were ordered paid on motion of Councilman Rosselli, seconded ,by Councilman Spillers and carried. Councilman Spillers moved that the meeting be adjourned to January 4th. After discussion, Councilman Spillers withdrew his motion. Councilman Spillers asked permission to leave the State. Councilman Weymouth moved to grant Councilman Spillers permission to leave the State, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried.
