Gean Davis, First Christian Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL The following were noted present:. Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, <br />John S. Rosselli, Robert V. Spillers, Ray 4iieymouth$ Mayor William H. Royer and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were City Manager James E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. Costello, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, <br />Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittel, Assessor -Auditor John J. Brophy, Police Chief William Faulstich, <br />Water Superintendent H. L. 7.rinter, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Associate Engineer Arthur Eskelin, <br />Recreation Director Alfred Morton, Police Lieutenant Joel Mansfield, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi and Deputy City <br />Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Councilman Spillers moved approval of the minutes of Larch 23rd as mailed, seconded by Councilman Fields and <br />carried. <br />FURTHER DISCUSSION ON "REFERENDUM PETITION". Mayor Royer announced that the Council had been served with a <br />writ restraining Council action for one week. Councilman Herkner moved that the matter of the referendum <br />petition be carried on the agenda until next week. Councilman Fields sta ted 1,17at they had been advised <br />that the City would be given a reasonable extension of time past the April 10th date mentioned in the <br />writ. Attorney Dell 'Ergo verified this statement after which the motion carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PETITION OF A. S. Sc ESTELLA IPIHITMORE,. ANGELO P. & NINA MAINERI, HENRY & THERESA GERSMEIER, "07 <br />EDWARD A. & IONE A. FEINBERG AND JAMES G. NICHOLAS to amend Section 4.1 of Ordinance No. 600 to rezone 0.99 <br />from R-1 and R -fit Districts to R -3-G District, Lots 29-31-33-35-37-39-41-43-45-47-49, Nally 901 of Lot 51, <br />NKly 45' of Lots 48 & 50 and NWly 301 of Lots 44 & 46, Resub of Wellesley Park, located at 1141 Wellesley <br />Crescent, 207-231-257-295 Arlington Road. The affidavits of notice were ordered filed. The Mayor read <br />the report of the Planning Commission. The Clerk read the letter from the North Redwood Neighbors protest- <br />ing the rezoning. There were no other written comunications. Chester Lebsack, representing the Gersmeiers <br />and Feinbergs, stated for the record that his clients would not make the existing buildings a part of the <br />apartment use and will not convert the present building into an apartment use. The Feinberg home will be <br />torn down when apartments are built. Paul McCarthy, representing the Whitmores, stated that the garages <br />would be at the rear of the property, the development will be at least as good as the photos show and the <br />development and landscaping will be as good as any found in Redwood City. After hearing the remarks of the <br />people protesting the rezoning, Councilman, Spillers moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded for <br />Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the following be made a part of the minutes: representatives of the area may <br />participate when the sbmitted plans are studied by the Commission, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />Councilman Spillers moved to approve the recommendation of the Planning Cor -mission and introduced an ordin- <br />ance amending Ordinance Ido. 600, the Zoning Ordinance, to rezone Lots 290 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 45, 47 <br />and 49 and portions of Lots 44, 46, 48, 50 and 51 of the resubdivision of Wellesley Park, from R-1 and R-4 <br />District to R -3-G District, seconded by Councilman Fields and carried unanimously on roll can. <br />Ceuneilman Herkner moved adoption of ORDINANCE N0. 930 OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO <br />THE CITY CF REDWOOD CITY OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY DESIGNATED "ELKS ANNEXATION" AND HEREIN DESCRIBED, <br />AND HEREIN ANNEXING SAID TERRITORY TO SAID CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried <br />unanimously on roll call. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. <br />
