282 <br />Councilman Weymouth moved adoption of ORDINANCE N0, 931 AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 821, BEING THE <br />SALARY PLAN OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND ADDING THERETO SECTI94 2.94 TO PROVIDE FOR THE POSITION OF <br />ASSISTANT RECREATION DIRECTOR AND DESIGNATING SAID POSITION TO BE IN RANGE 36, seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner and carried unanimously on roll call. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. <br />FURTHER DISCUSSION ON "REFERENDUM PETITION". Councilman Spillers moved to authorize the City Attorney to defend <br />d <br />all parties in the complaint, seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried. <br />REQUEST OF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE CITY'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. Councilman <br />Granger moved to carry this on the agenda for one week, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PERSONNEL BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT FORMAL APPROVAL BE GIVEN FOR THE CITY MANAGER TO HIRE THE PLANNING DIRECTOR AND <br />"04 <br />ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR AT THE SECOND STEP OF THEIR RESPECTIVE SALARY RANGES. Councilman Herkner moved <br />moo <br />that the appointments of the present Planning Director and Assistant Planning Director at the second step <br />of their respecitive salary range be approved and ratified retroactively to the dates of their appointment, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />REPORT ON BID OPENING, CONCESSION STAND, HAWES PARK. The Clerk reported that no bids had been received. Coun- <br />cilman Rosselli moved that the matter be referred to the City Attorney to see if it would be necessary to <br />readvertise for bids and to also contact the previous people who conducted the concession stand last year <br />to see if they still wanted the concession this year, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Councilman Herkner moved introduction of an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 600, the Zoning Ordinance, to <br />rezone Lots 6, 71 8, 9, 10 and a portion of Lotl7, Block 5, Tract No. 559, Redwood Manor No. 2, from R-2 <br />District to C -N District (vicinity of Marsh Road and Florence Street), seconded by Councilman Rosselli and <br />carried. <br />AUDITOR -ASSESSOR AND CITY TREASURER REGARDING TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO <br />COVER <br />INTEREST <br />PAYMENTS ON SEWER BONDS. The <br />Mayor read the report. Councilman Herkner moved introduction <br />of an <br />ordinance <br />appropriating the sum of <br />...� <br />$50,210.67 from the Sewer Rental Fund to the Capital Fund, 1958 Sewer Bond Series Account, for the purpose <br />of the payment of principal and interest on 1958 sewer bonds, seconded by Council -man Granger and carried. <br />WINSTON FURNITURE COMPANY, 2341 E1 Camino Real, APPLICATION FOR "CLOSE OUT SALE% Councilman Rosselli moved that <br />the permit be granted subject to compliance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 437 (MINUTE ORDER #59-20), <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />Alvis S.Hatch, Chairman Greater Highways Committee, requested each city to name four members to the Committee <br />to consist of the following: (1) the mayor or member of the city Council; (2) the City Engineer; (3) the <br />Planner, Planning Consultant, or Chairman of the Planning Commission; and (4) one member representing the <br />citizens at large and adopt a resolution endorsing the establishment of the Greater Highway Committee. <br />Councilman Spillers will serve on the Committee. It was decided that the remainder of the request would <br />be completed at the next Council meeting. <br />Frank Ashton, 542 Iris Street, expressed his appreciation for the efficient manner in which Gino Martini <br />and John Horter and the street repairmen did their work in front of his home. The City Manager was asked <br />to send the letter,to the Street Department and express the thanks of the Council_ for a job well done. <br />City of Burlingame extended an invitation to the Council and other City Officials to take a leading part <br />in their parade to help celebrate their 51st Anniversary with an Art & Festival Celebration. Council Y..d <br />members were requested to notify the City Manager if they planned to attend. <br />Redwood City Junior Chamber of Commerce request that a permit be granted for the Golden Gate Shows to show <br />their Rides, Shows and Concessions, May 20th thru 24th, at property located at Marshall Square.
