254 <br />Councilman Herkner moved to introduce an ordinance providing for the adoption by reference of the text of the <br />1958 edition of the Uniform Building Code, including all parts of the appendix thereto, consisting of two <br />volumes entitled "Uniform Building Code, 1958 Edition, Volume I", and "Uniform Building Code, 1958 Edition, <br />Volume III, Uniform Building Code Standards", published by the International Conference of Building <br />Officials, with amendments, as the Building Code of the City of Redwood City; providing penalties for the <br />7 <br />violation thereof, and repealing Ordinance No. 778, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />PURCHASE OF 16" BRUSH CHIPPER. Bacon Company 3,493.36 <br />The Park Superintendent recommended the low bid of Agricultural Machinery Company, Inc. Councilman <br />Spillers moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 2626 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING CF TRAILER MOUNTED BRUSH w.rri <br />CHIPPER AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED,, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried unanimously <br />on roll call. <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SIDEWALK ORDINANCE AND SETTING UP PROCEDURE FOR VARIANCE. The Mayor announced that this <br />item would be carried on the agenda for one week. <br />ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE CITY'S GASOLINE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PERIOD FEBRUARY 12 1959 THROUGH JANUARY 31, <br />1960, INCLUSIVE. Councilman Spillers moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2627 APPROVING SPECIFICATTONS <br />FOR THE PURCHASE CF GASOLINE FOR THE PERIOD FEBRUARY 1, 1959 - JANUARY 31, 1960, AND AUTHORIZING A CALL <br />FOR BIDS THEREFOR, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried unanimously on roll call. <br />Councilman Granger moved to introduce an ordinance establishing the time and place of regular and special <br />meeting s of the Council of the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City Planning Commission; and, re- <br />pealing Ordinance No. 424 and all ordinances in conflict herewith, seconded by Councilman Herkner and <br />carried. I. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd White, 1965 Alameda de las Pulgas, expressed their thanks and appreciation <br />for the way in which the problem of the flood condition created by the Menlo Country Club was handled. <br />Reuel Meyers protested the issuance of a use permit for the building of a bowling alley, restaurant and <br />cocktail lounge at the Woodside Plaza Shopping Center and asked that a public hearing be held. Council- <br />man Herkner moved to set this matter for a public hearing on February 2, 1959, seconded by Councilman <br />Weiss and carried. <br />Mid -Peninsula Cab Co., Inc. request an increase in taxi fares from the present rate of 50¢ for the first <br />one-half mile and 10¢ for each additional one-fourth mile, to 50¢ for the first one-third mile and 10¢ <br />for each additional one-fourth mile. The practical effect of such an increase would be to raise the <br />fare on each trip only 10¢. The Mayor appointed Councilman Rosselli and Granger as a committee to meet <br />with the City Manager to discuss the matter with the Taxi Company and gain some more facts. <br />WAN <br />Councilman Granger moved that the meeting be adjourned IN MEMORNM OF DOMENICO AIRAUDI, former City Hall <br />gardener, seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried.
