2.9 <br />The affidavit of mailing of notice of hearing of annexation and the affidavit concerning ownership and <br />value of land and improvements in that territory designated as "Leslie Annexation No. 1," as shown on <br />the last equalized assessment roll of the County of San Mateo, State of California, were ordered filed. <br />Two letters of protest were received and read by the Clerk. The letters were from Dennis L. Woodman, <br />Attorney for Triple "A" Machine Shop, Inc. and/or Albert Engel (Lot 4, Sweeny Ranch), and Charles N. <br />Baker, owner of the easterly half of Lot J in Block 42, Belle Haven City, were ordered filed. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that the public hearing be continued to July 6th (MINUTE ORDER #59-57), sec- <br />onded by Councilman Spillers. The following people addressed the Council and protested their inclu- <br />sion in the annexation: Sylvan Berges, 3638 Haven Avenue, Philip H. Gallian, 3586 Haven Avenue, Grace <br />Trutt, 3506 Haven Avenue and 3504 Haven Avenue, Hubert Kertz, Lots A & B, Block 42, Belle Haven City, <br />Claude Bergman, 3570 Haven Avenue, and Dennis Woodman, Attorney for Albert E. Engel. A petition of <br />protest of their property being included in the Leslie Annexation No. 1 was filed with the Clerk - <br />petitioners were as follows: <br />Claude 0. Bergman, 3570 Haven Avenue <br />Sylvan Berges, 3638 Haven Avenue <br />Grace H. Trutt, 3506 and.3504 Haven Avenue <br />Lewis J. Goltz, 3624 Haven Avenue <br />Anton Schadi, 3562 Haven Avenue <br />Irving E. Neblin, 3586 Haven Avenge <br />Philip H. Gallian, -1586 Haven Avenue <br />Herbert H. Kertz, Omer of Lots A and B of Block 42, Belle Haven Subdivision, also submitted a written <br />letter of protest at being included in the annexation. <br />Mayor pro -tem Granger asked for a roll call vote to continue the public hearing to July 6th. The motion <br />carried on roll call with .Mayor Royer being noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ANNEXATION OF LESLIE ANNEXATION N0. 2. The public hearing was declared open and the <br />affidavits of publication were ordered filed. The affidavit of mailing of notice of hearing of annexa- <br />tion and the affidavit concerning ownership and value of land and improvements in that territory de- <br />signated as "Leslie Annex*tion No. 2," as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of <br />San Mateo, State of California, were ordered filed. <br />Francis A. Guido, Attorney, presented a letter of protest on behalf of Lee T. Ross, Mrs. Emma H. <br />Kalenborn, Francis A. Guido, Dr. Edward P. Genochio, Mrs. Lottie Dixon and Mrs. Nary Doud, protesting <br />the inclusion of their property in the annexation ---Parcel 6 containing 106.34 acres, and being portion <br />of Sections 5 and 8, Township 5 South, Range 3 West, and Parcel 7 containing 100 acres and being portion <br />of Section 5, Township 5 South, Range 3 West. The letter of protest was ordered filed. <br />Councilman Weymouth moved to continue the public hearing to July 6th,(MINUTE ORDER #59-58), seconded by <br />Councilman Fields and carried on roll call, Mayor Royer -being noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON ANNEXATION CF LESLIE ANNEXATION N0. 3. The affidavits of publication were ordered filed. <br />The affidavit of mailing of notice of hearing of annexation and the affidavit concerning ownership and <br />I <br />value of land and improvements in that territory designated "Leslie Annexation No. 3," as shown on the <br />last equalized assessment roll of the County of San Mateo, State of California, were ordered filed. <br />There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved to continue the public hearing until <br />July 6th (MINUTE ORDER #59-59), seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried on roll call, Mayor Royer <br />being noted absent. <br />The City Attorney informed the Council that PRESS WIRELESS, INC. had filed an "alternative writ of mandate" <br />on the proceedings of Leslie Annexation No. 2, the matter to be heard on June 4, 1959. Councilman <br />Herkner moved to authorize the City Attorney to defend the case (MINUTE ORDER #59-60)9 seconded by <br />Councilman Fields and carried on roll call, Mayor Royer being noted absent. <br />
