Dodge, lity Clerk <br />9 <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />June 1, 1959, 8:00 P. Me <br />Invocation was led by Reverend John Fast, Free Methodist Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Ron W. Fields, Flgyd D. Granger, John S. Rosselli, <br />Robert V. Spillers, Ray Weymouth, Mayor Pro -tem Sidney D. Herkner and Deputy City Clerk Vivian Holmquist. <br />Mayor William Royer was noted absent. Also present were City Manager J. E. Neal, City Attorney Robert J. <br />Costellop City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Assistant Planning Director Leonard Knittels Assessor -Auditor John <br />J. Brophy, Police Chief William Faulstich, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, and Water Superintendent H. <br />L. Minter. <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE APPEAL OF AMERIGO & JEANNE BIANUCCI FROM THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS DENIAL OF A VARIANCE <br />FROM THE STRICT APPLICATION OF THE TERMS OF SECTION 7.1(f) 3 OF ORDINANCE NO. 600 TO PERMIT ACCESS TO A <br />SECOND UNIT ON THE SIDE PROPERTY LINE OF 719n INSTEAD OF REQUIRED 10+ ON PROPERTY AT LOT 13, BLOCK 34, <br />BELLE HAVEN SUBDIVISION, said property being also designated as 3118 Hoover Street. The affidavit of <br />notice was ordered filed. The public hearing was declared open and the communications read. After a <br />lengthy and sometimes heated discussion, Councilman Spillers moved to close the public hearing, seconded <br />by Councilman Rosselli and carried. 04 <br />Councilman Spillers moved to grant the variance and instructed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary <br />o.wwj <br />resolution, seconded by Councilman Fields on the basis that there had been a misunderstanding. After dis- <br />cussion, Councilman Fields withdrew his second. Councilman Granger then seconded the motion on the con- <br />dition that no carport be built with an access on the alley. Councilman Spillers included this in his <br />motion. The motion lost on roll call with a,tie votep Councilmen Fieldsp Granger and Spillers voting <br />yes and Councilmen Rosselli, Weymouth and Mayor pro -tem Herkner venting no, and Mayor Royer being noted <br />absent. <br />Councilman Spillers moved approved of the minutes of May 25th as mailed, seconded by Councilman Fields and car- <br />ried. <br />Councilman Fields moved adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 2739 ESTABLISHING AND DECLARING CERTAIN DESIGNATED ENTRANCES <br />TO DESIGNATED INTERSECTIONS TO BE STOP ENTRANCES, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried or. roll call, <br />Mayor Royer being noted absent. Stop signs to be erected and maintained at the following locations: <br />(a) Bret Harte Drive at Emerald Hill Road - Stop signs to be erected at each .of the <br />intersections of Bret Harte Drive with Emerald Hill Road. <br />(b) Stambaugh Street at Maple Street - Stop signs to be erected at each of the inter- <br />sections of Stambaugh Street with Maple Street. <br />(c) Cassia Street at Stambaugh Street - Stop signs to be erected at each of the inter- <br />sections Cassia Street at Stambaugh Street. <br />(d) City Parking Lot - Stop sign to be erected in the City Parking Lot at the rear of „_„d <br />Hogan's Shoe Store, 2053 Broadway, to control traffic entering the entrance -exit <br />to the parking lot from Broadway. <br />REPORT ON BID OPENING, DOWNTOWN STREET RESURFACING. The following bids were received: <br />Douglas & Woodhouse, Redwood City $12,560.6 <br />Freeman Paving Company, Palo Alto 12,730.50 <br />Sondgroth Brothers, Mountain View 12,956.82 <br />San Carlos Paving Company, San Carlos 13,107.70 <br />0. C. Jones & Sons, Berkeley 14,145.00 <br />
